“You think I should go out with a bang?”
“Baby, I’ll give you a bang if that’s what you need.” He winked at me and I couldn’t help but laugh. This is why I loved Lukas. Every single thing was easy. He was the sole person who could bring me out of a shitty mood.
“Luke, I’m serious.”
“What? Me too. Dick at your service, baby. But honestly, I think it should be your decision about golf. I know if you stick with it, you’ll go far, but if your heart's not in it anymore then it’s understandable. I’ll stand behind whatever you choose. You never have to question that, Zales.”
I daydreamingly beamed. “Yeah, I know.” I looked down at my watch and cringed. We’d wasted so much time. “Shit, I need to get back up to the room before I get chewed out for not being there this morning.”
“By Coach or Cami?”
“Definitely Cami.” We both laughed.
“Well, hey let me walk you up.” We quickly dressed and left the hotel room Luke had rented. The elevator was quiet as we made our way up. It seemed like Lukas had something sitting on the tip of his tongue, but he never said a word.
The doors slowly opened and we stepped out together.
I reached out to squeeze his hand. “Thanks for last night. You know I’m glad we can still hang out like old times.”
“That’ll never change. Now I just prefer to hang out naked. But we can’t have sex twenty-four-seven so clothes are probably the best option.”
With his hands in his pockets, he lingered in front of my room until I opened the door and… out came Taz?
“Oh shit.”
It was the only thing he said before he quickly darted past Lukas and I. We watched him scurry down the hallway like we hadn’t just caught him after his sleepover with Cami.
“You, ma’am, have a ton of explaining to do,” I said to Cami before turning back to Luke. He leaned in to give me a quick kiss on the lips.
“Good luck today, Zales. You won’t need it, but I’ll be waiting for you on hole eighteen.”
