Our lips are inches apart, our bodies flush, and…is that…I rock my hips forward slightly. Yep. Wow.

The bulge in his shorts hits me right in the sweet spot, and moisture floods my panties. My resulting gasp takes me by surprise, and I hold my breath, waiting to see how he responds.

His fingers flex against my back, sending a shiver up my spine. I lift my eyes to his, excited and terrified by what I might find. But I have to know.

Eric meets my gaze, blue eyes searing into mine with the same mixture of fear and anticipation I imagine he can see reflected back at him. But he doesn’t look away. He doesn’t move. Neither of us do, like we’re two magnets, pulling and repelling one another at the same time.

It’s the first time he’s shown a trace of emotion around me, and I have no idea what to do about it. I press my lips together and try to swallow, a desperate attempt to form words I still can’t speak.

His eyes drift lower, studying my mouth. I swear his head starts to dip, and I lift mine in response. Then my watch beeps, and he lets me go so fast I nearly fall to the ground.

“Break’s over.” I say the first thing that comes to mind. Resetting the timer on my watch gives me an excuse not to look at him as I move to the next machine. I don’t think I can stomach the distaste that’s bound to be on his face after that little encounter.
