That’s sort of a good point. I bite my lip nervously, thinking of how to respond.

“I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you speechless.” Eric tucks a strand of hair behind my ear.

“I’m not sure I ever have been.”

“Is that a good thing?”

“I don’t know yet.” It’s true, I’ve wanted this forever, but after a certain point, you start to believe the fantasy is all it is. I don’t know how to trust that this is real. Not yet, even though I want to be.

“Look,” Eric cups my cheek, “I know for you this is coming out of nowhere, but for me it’s been years in the making. I don’t know how much time we have left before one or both of us gets our shot at the pros, and I don’t want to spend that time without you. After what just happened, I don’t think I can.”

Of all the things I thought I’d never hear, his confession tops the list. I know I need to respond, but how? “So you don’t like tiny barbies?” It’s the first thing that comes to mind.

Eric shakes his head to hide the frustrated chuckle. “That’s what you took from my speech?”

“It’s just that I always wondered how you…” I manage to stop myself before the words are out, but I can’t stop my face from reflecting my train of thought, especially since my eyes involuntarily drop to his crotch before I shut my mouth.

“Addison Perry, I’m trying to tell you I’m head over heels for you and you’re thinking about my dick?” His grin is borderline predatory as his eyes flash with heat.

“It’s still,” I clear my throat, “elevated.” So is my voice.

“I’ve got damn near zero restraint right now, and that won’t last if you don’t keep those pretty little eyes on mine.” His warning is more of a growl than a statement, which draws my eyes back to his crotch. “That’s it, we’re getting out of here.”

He grabs his shirt and throws it on, then hops off the training table to throw away the ice.

“Where are we going?”

“My place.” He takes my hand and leads me out the door.
