I lean in, getting in Madame Tamsin’s face. “This is the alpha bitch that sold me to fucking Platinum Shores.”
“Release me, omegas. Now. You will be obedient girls, or I’ll put you in your places. This is your one warning.” Madame Tamsin bares her teeth, scowling and grumbling, her muscles tense. “Hurt me, and you’ll never get your fucking drugs.”
Holly hesitates, but I don’t. Swinging my fist, I punch Madame Tamsin in the nose. Everything happens so fast that I can’t brace for her strength. She knees me in the back, knocking me forward over her head and into Holly. The world blurs, and yells echo through the air.
“Kinsey!” Holly screams. “Don’t touch her!”
Madame Tamsin towers over me, wobbling on her feet. Jerking her leg, she kicks me in the chest, stealing my breath. I open and close my mouth, desperately trying to suck in air that doesn’t come.
I black out.

IhearHollyscreamfrom the partially opened door. Fuck. It’s been five minutes. Five fucking minutes. How the fuck has something happened already? It should’ve been easy. It was basically supposed to be an exchange of money for pills, and the two of them should’ve been back. I regret letting them go out at all. No damn pill is worth either of them getting hurt. I don’t give a fuck if Holly wants to try to pass as a beta. Right now? I don’t want her to leave the palace at all. I need to keep her safe with Kinsey. The world is just too damn dangerous. They both had already taken a pill and still, someone went after them.
Unholstering my gun, I kick open the door and automatically shoot at the wall, the sound of my gun startling the female alpha as she kicks Kinsey’s lifeless body.
My heart explodes with panic, and I aim my gun at the alpha.
The sound of the safety clicking off another gun snaps in my ear. “I’d reconsider shooting my dealer. She had every right to fight back, considering she was attacked first. Tend to your omega and let me handle my wayward employee.”
The alpha’s comment knocks some sense back into me, and I lower my gun. I scowl at the man, threatening him with my gaze, praying silently that he doesn’t do anything stupid. Beckett and his pack, now looming by the building, helps my nerves. I rush toward Kinsey and Holly, pulling Kinsey from the ground.
“Kinsey, sugar. Wake up. Hey, I’m here. Please open your eyes.” I hold Kinsey on my lap, stroking my fingers over her temples.
Her lids flutter, her eyes rolling. She doesn’t speak. A soft whimper escapes her pouty mouth and nearly guts me. I want to kill that bitch. I want to kill the man who intervened.
“I only disabled your omega. She’ll be fine in a minute.” The bitch keeps her space as she tries to defend herself with a flimsy excuse. “She stabbed me.”
“Because you fucking sold her to Platinum Shores!” Holly points her finger. Beckett quietly closes the space to her, ensuring she doesn’t try to lunge.
“Control her. She has no right to speak to me like that.” It’s Tamsin. I don’t know why it didn’t click. She looks different. Thinner. Weaker. And somehow, she has found herself as a dealer. What the fuck is going on?
“In my territory she does. Do not undermine the authority of the Gilded Sands Pack. She is my sister and the princess of our territory. Kinsey will soon be queen. I should arrest you both. This gives me the right to punish you.” I get to my feet and adjust Kinsey in my arms. Turning to Beckett, I nod to him. “Restrain them. All deals are off.”
Beckett’s pack acts for him, grabbing both Tamsin and the man who I realize is Mr. Donahue. I’ve never met him in person, and I’ve only heard about him through my brothers.
Mr. Donahue growls. “Now, now. This is not necessary. It was all a misunderstanding. I had assumed that these omegas were just betas. That’s how well the drugs work. I’m sure Tamsin didn’t recall your omega from her staff. She sees a lot. She only pays attention to those she favors. You cannot blame her for acting in self-defense when someone just launches and attacks. Let’s be civilized. We all have our priorities, and we know yours is getting your hands on some more suppressant pills. I just want to do business and leave. No need to sully our budding alliance.”
Funny how he backtracks once he’s out of a position of power, unable to threaten us with a weapon.
“That’s still unacceptable. Kinsey’s hurt.” I flare my nostrils and bare my teeth at Tamsin.
She rolls her eyes. “The little bitch is faking it. She knows her way around alphas, and she’s playing you. I’ve taught her well.”
Kinsey tenses in my arms, finally aroused awake by the situation. She doesn’t talk, though. She’ll let me handle it.
“I don’t give a fuck. I want you on your knees and begging for forgiveness. That’s the only way this is going to work out. You’re also banned from my territory. You’re not welcome here even as a dealer.” I jerk my gaze to Donahue. “We’ll be working with you directly.”
Donahue nods. “Absolutely. I only brought Tamsin because omegas tend to be less threatened by females. You know this.”
From what Kinsey tells me, that’s actually quite the opposite. She finds female alphas to be more cruel. Less perceptive and violent. Males tend to just want sex and attention.
“You might want to reconsider. That doesn’t matter now. Get the bitch to apologize and send her on her way. You’re welcome to join me to discuss things further. I do not agree with your practices, so before we completely agree to allow you to use our territory as a passageway, I want to set some rules.” I point at Tamsin. “Bow down now.”
