“You better beg Tamsin to face me, or I’ll go through each and every one of you.” Wilder looks toward another man I recognize. It’s Mr. Holt, the beta that escorted me to clean out my apartment when I was caught.

He meets my gaze, his mouth quivering. “Tamsin, do as he says. You’re our leader and alpha. This is your duty.”

Again, Tamsin doesn’t respond.

Mr. Holt widens his eyes in fear and raises his hands in surrender. “Please, she’s behind the bar.”

Wilder spares Mr. Holt’s life, and he falls back and takes a breath, still trembling. Striding forward, Wilder heads toward the bar. Arsenio takes the spot in front of me, keeping me safely within the circle of his brothers.

I see a strange orange glow bouncing off one of the decorative mirrors behind the bar. My heart seizes, and I scream out, “Wilder, stop!”

Madame Tamsin pops up from her place behind the bar, holding a flaming bottle. Wilder swears and jumps out of the way a second before it hits the floor where he was standing, setting it ablaze. The fire alarms ring, piercing my ears, and water shoots from the sprayers above. Arsenio grabs me and lifts me into his arms, holding me with one hand as he fires his weapon in the direction Madame Tamsin tries to run.

She doesn’t make it far. One of the cowering betas sticks out his leg and trips her, sending her sprawling across the floor. She spins and shoots him in the chest, aiming her weapon toward us next.

Several gunshots ring through the air, and I startle, squeezing my eyes shut, afraid to see the outcome. It takes everything in me not to whimper. I bite my bottom lip and squeeze onto Arsenio.

Tamsin growls in pain, and the room falls silent. Arsenio strokes his hand on my back, loosening my muscles. I summon my bravery to straighten up and swivel my torso to look at where I last saw Wilder.

He stands tall, pointing his gun at Tamsin as she clutches a bleeding wound on her shoulder. Her gun lies on the floor a couple of feet away, dropped because she couldn’t hold onto it. I release a gasping breath, my nerves settling down. No one stands up for her. No one tries to fight for her.

This proves exactly what kind of alpha and leader she is, one born of power and violence but without loyalty. She is alone. She has always been alone, and this proves it. You can only take so much from your pack before they have nothing left to give or want to give.

“Under the authority of the Gilded Sands’ position in the Pack Regimes, I declare you guilty of coercion, blackmail, trafficking illegal omegas, corruption, money laundering, and many other crimes I do not have to list, but mostly you are guilty of abuse toward my mate and queen. You seem to think that you still have some sort of control over her and can threaten her, but it’s over. Your life ends here. You will not have a respectable death. I’ll not act as your adversary and give you a distinguished end as an alpha. You’ll die by the woman you have wronged. She’ll be serving justice today. You’ll bow at the feet of someone you consider beneath you and learn that she is above you. You’re nothing more than a worthless piece of shit who can’t stand in her way.” Turning slightly, Wilder motions to us, having Arsenio bring me closer.

My chest heaves with my breaths, and I look at Tamsin for the first time. Her eyes lock onto mine as she tries to intimidate me, even now, injured and broken on the floor.

It gives me the courage to do what is necessary. It’s what pushes me forward. I never thought she would die by my hands, but I realize it can’t be any other way. This is how I’ll move past this. This is how I’ll protect the omegas that found themselves in a bad position like I had. This is how I’ll help the Gilded Sands Pack change the laws within the Pack Regimes. Because I’m not weak like the alphas think. I’m not useless and only good for breeding. I’m better than that. I’m as powerful as my alphas and not because they protect me. It’s because they have lifted me up and showed me that I can protect myself. I’m strong. I’m more than just my order.

Wilder takes me from Arsenio and sets me in front of him, adjusting the gun in my hands. He stands beside me, holding his hands over mine as he helps me aim.

“Wait,” Tamsin says, her face breaking as she realizes that this isn’t a threat. It’s a promise. “I’ll give you whatever you want. If you want the omegas, you can keep them. Name your price.”

A smile crosses my face. I never expected that someone else’s fear could smell so incredible. It’s the first time I’ve ever had the luxury of breathing in the fragrance. I savor it for a moment longer, staring at her, continuing to plead for her life.

“There’s only one thing I want, Tamsin,” I say, finding my voice.

She bobs her head, chewing her bottom lip. “Just name it, Kinsey.”

“Your life.” I don’t give her another second to plead with me and pull the trigger.

Wilder keeps the gun from whipping back at me from the force. Madame Tamsin slumps on the floor, and silence fills the air. No one moves. No one speaks. I’m not even sure anyone is breathing.

Revenge smells so sweet.

It feels even better.

With Tamsin’s death, a part of me revives. It’s the part of me she stole and tried to destroy.

She can’t hurt me or anyone else ever again.

Her reign over the Vixen Lounge and the Gutter District is over.

Her prisoners are finally free.

“Kinsey, you know you’re famous among the Gorgeous Girls. We still can’t believe your luck. No one has ever escaped getting transferred as a traveling girl.” Anita sits beside me in the backseat of the car.
