“Fuck.” He buried his face in her neck and thrust into her.

Ace cried out as he filled her and buried himself as deep as he could go. His teeth were digging into the flesh of her neck, hips moving in that perfect way. Arcing into him, she wrapped her legs around his waist letting the slickness of their bodies slide together and the roaring need within them carry them in a rush of animalistic demands.

What was soft and gentle at first was turning wild and rough. Their bodies were slamming together frantically with no sense of rhythm, only desire as they chased that elusive burning lighting that sparked inside their veins.

Everything inside of her was building, even her holy fire was igniting. Her fingertips were glowing as if she might summon her sword at any minute. Then she noticed the burning sensation of Shelby’s touch as fire licked at his palms where his hands encircled her. She didn’t care that his flesh was searing into hers, let him scar her, let him be forever a part of her.

All she could do was let herself fall into the bliss he was creating with her. A violent shout of euphoria clawed its way out of her throat as he brought her to climax so fiercely she felt her entire body blaze with holy fire.

Shelby followed quickly, moaning as he sunk into her and fell apart as she clamped down all around him. Ace’s thighs were wet and perspiration stuck her skin to Shelby’s as he collapsed against her.

She opened her eyes, and the sliver of orange in Shelby’s gaze was pink. He watched her carefully as he slid himself out of her. Ace lifted her hand to touch his chest then gasped as she realized.

Her skin was glowing.

Ace

Shelby’s finger traced gentle circles along Ace’s bicep. Sleep still cradled her but only mildly as a kiss was pressed to her bare shoulder. Under the blankets, heat had been trapped in a perfect bubble that fought the cold of the room.

She snuggled down into the sheets and pressed against the warm skin at her back. Through her lashes, she could see a thin sheen of frost that covered the windows from the particularly cold fall day. Her breath fogged in the air between them as she rolled over.

“Hi,” she said meekly.

Shelby’s tongue chased out to moisten his mouth before he pressed his lips together to suppress a smile. “Hi.”

His eyes moved down to her lips then back up to her gaze before he lowered himself slowly, allowing her time to stop him if she so chose to. Instead of pushing him away, she tipped her head up to his and welcomed the kiss, drinking it in like fine wine.

“You love me.” She giggled between them.

His laughter was deep and joyous and the most beautiful sound she’d ever heard him make. Rolling to his back, he stretched his arms and smiled up to the ceiling. “You said you loved me too just so we are clear.”

Ace hid herself under the blankets trying to hide her goofy grin and the kiss of crimson she couldn’t get to leave her cheeks. “I did, didn’t I?”

“Yes.” He sighed. “You sure did.”

“Are we crazy?”

The blanket was pulled away from her face, allowing light into her cocoon of darkness. “I’m certain we are. No other option.”

“Ah!” She rolled her eyes as she faked frustration.

She dared to pull one hand out of the blanket and brave the cold as she cupped his chin and stared up at him. Her skin had returned to its light brown hue but she could still remember the way she’d glowed almost white against him in the heat of passion. There was no explanation for it. Shelby didn’t ask and she didn’t try to find a rhyme or reason for it.

Ace was content to lay here in his arms and soak in the day, letting herself savor every second. She hummed as he rolled his eyes and lowered to lavish her with kiss after kiss. Her toes curled into the sheets.

“I hate it when you start humming.” He chuckled against her lips. “You’re still so damn annoying.”

The entirety of her body vibrated with laughter as she wrapped herself around him. At some point, he’d put his undershorts back on, leaving her the only one truly naked in bed. Through the thin fabric his erection was apparent, which only caused her to hum more as if she was approving of what she found. And she was…so approving.

Her mind instantly filled with the images of last night, but like the true cockblock it was, her stomach growled fiercely between them. She’d had little to eat last night other than an apple and the drinks she shared with Rehan.

Her body went still as she remembered Rehan and his kiss. While Rehan wasn’t a bad kisser it had been nothing compared to what she shared with Shelby.

“What’s wrong? Are you hungry?”

“Yes.” It wasn’t a lie but it wasn’t the reason she thought she might throw up all of a sudden.

“I’ll go get us some breakfast.” He paused when he caught sight of her ring on her hand, holding the covers. He frowned a little before picking her hand up and looking at it. “You don’t need this.” He pulled the ring from her hand and tossed it over his shoulder. His lips pressed to her ring finger and they listened to it roll away.
