“I’m enjoying my drink? You?” I say, revealing nothing.

His eyes also tell me the reason he is not doing what he would like to do to me is that he enjoys doing business with Kai.

And money comes first. I can’t judge them.

They groomed me to be like them, and I learned fast.

“I’m here, um…” he murmurs.

His eyes move past my cleavage before stalling on my legs. Although I wear pants and have my legs crossed, his eyes affect me.

I try not to move or give myself away.

Something tells me he doesn’t care. He knows exactly how much he affects me.

That’s why he likes to play with me.

His eyes come back to mine.

He grabs his drink and tilts it against his lips before signaling he is ready to leave.

“For a business dinner,” he continues. “Are you waiting for someone?” he throws at me in a different voice.

He’s genuinely curious and wants to know if I’m alone tonight.

“No.”

His eyebrows move up into an incredulous look, and then I read that genuine curiosity in his eyes again, and a bit of surprise.

I don’t know what it means.

It’s like he knows something that I don’t.

“All right,” he says.

He can’t help himself and slides his hand under my hair, touching the sensitive skin of my neck, and lowering his lips to my ear.

My skin reacts with tingles when he murmurs words in my ear.

“Call me if you’re free,” he says before straightening his back.

I don’t need lengthy explanations to know what that means.

And I panic a little, thinking that his deal with Kai is no longer in place.

Why would he say something like that? What makes him think he has free rein to do whatever he wants when it comes to me?

He winks at me, and I get a hot flash from his eyes before he swaggers away, his drink dangling from his hand, his suit showcasing his athletic figure.

Roman Cardenas was the last thing I needed today.
