Adam moves quick, swiping the keys from my hand before doing the same to Tyler’s. “No. You’re staying here with me and getting a goddamn harness on.”

Tyler tries to grab his key back, but with a shit-eating grin, Adam holds it above the band of his shorts. “Try me, Tyler Bateman, and these keys will go swimming in my balls.”

“You’re fucking gross,” Tyler growls but relents.

I run a hand over my head and frown. “I don’t like it.”

“Well, I can guarantee that neither Ava or Gracie will enjoy you storming in like bats out of hell all because you were being jealous pricks,” Adam says.

“I’m not jealous, asshole,” Tyler is quick to blurt out. I want to believe him, but there’s a small, relentless prick of doubt in my side that just won’t go away. It’s been there since yesterday morning.

I give my head a shake. “Let’s just drop it. It looks like everyone’s here now anyway.”

Miguel is standing beside a small trail in the thick bush, his eyes on the clipboard in his hands. The air is muggy, and the bugs are out in full force, buzzing around and tickling my skin. Somehow, though, I don’t mind.

Isabella waves a hand in the air. “If everyone is ready, follow us. Watch out for rocks in the trail.”

“The last one to get there has to go down the zip-line first. We’ll call you a test subject,” Miguel jokes, eyes bright. At least, I think it’s a joke.

A collective laugh rings out as everyone gathers their stuff, and we head toward the trail.
