The headboard slams into the wall as I hit my high, releasing inside of her, the lack of condom becoming abundantly clear. It’s the second time now I haven’t wrapped it up, but after she told me she was on the pill and both of us were clean, I guess I just stopped thinking about condoms.
I can already feel her eyes burning into my face when I come back down to earth. Looking at her, I shake my head once, as if that will highlight her fears and press delete before they have a chance to solidify.
Gracie watches as I roll off her and onto my back, not making another move to get off the bed. She blinks before looking at the bathroom door, like she wants to go clean up but is too afraid of what she’ll find when she comes out.
I slip my arm beneath my head and say, “If you want to go to the bathroom, go. I’ll be here when you get back.”
Her breath hitches. “What?”
My eyes soften. “Go.”
“Okay. I’ll be right back.” With brief hesitation, she gets up and waddles to the door. I laugh, watching her ass shake as she walks like a penguin.
It’s probably wrong to stay here. It’s too early on the last full day of our trip. But I don’t want to get up. I want to be the arms she crawls into when she comes back out.
So, despite the consequences, I wait.
