I snatch the box off the counter and storm off, not bothering to say goodbye. Mari is seriously clueless when it comes to Dirty Hoes and everything it takes to run this place. She doesn’t realize how much happens behind the scenes, how much stuff there is to do besides stand there and help customers.

My thoughts drift back to Quill, and our night together.

She doesn’t realize how much I need something—or someone—in my life other than Dirty Hoes.

But maybe I don’t realize how much I need that either.
