She headed toward the children’s section. The force of pure animal attraction locked his gaze to her pert rear end and the sway of her hips.

“Bee,” he called. Her name tasted good, like a cherry candy.

She looked over her shoulder at him.

“If you have time this afternoon, could you give me a tour?” he asked. “I’m familiar with the main layout, but I’d like to see the basement and upper floors. I’d also like to know where John Marcus’s ghost usually appears.”

Bee hesitated, again as if she were trying to figure out his ulterior motive. Then she gave a quick nod. “Peter will be here at two, so come and find me any time after that. I’d be happy to show you around.”

Adam let out the breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. “Great. Thanks.”

She continued toward the children’s section, which was actually more of a little nook beside a window.

He wondered what her story was. Sometimes, people believed in ghosts just because they didn’t see any reason to believe otherwise. Other times, they claimed to have had close encounters and experiences with the paranormal.

What was the foundation of Bee Delaney’s belief?

“Hey, boss!” Jay’s voice broke through his musings.

Adam looked up to find the gaffer leaning over the mezzanine railing.

“Mics are working, but they’re still a little unpredictable,” Jay called. “You wanna come up and check out the camera positions up here? We could barely fit it all in this room.”

“Yeah, I’ll be there in a sec.” Adam turned away from the circulation desk.

He had a job to do. And in order to do it well, he needed to stop being fascinated by the librarian.

Though the producers hadn’t yet finalized the show’s ending, there was a good chance they’d want the Bliss Cove Library to be declared a hoax. They’d filmed three haunted episodes in a row, so they were due for Clyde to smirk at the camera and claim he’d exposed a fraudster—which, in this case, would be Bee Delaney.

Adam usually didn’t care one way or the other about the show’s ending, but this time—for the first time—he was starting to.
