“On it.”Brandon phoned in our order, and hung up.“Movies?”

When we’d made the hotel reservation, the plan was to indulge.Stay in the room through Sunday, do everything we wouldn’t normally do, including paying too much for room service and pay per view movies.

It seemed silly now, but it also felt necessary.“What do they have?”

We landed on the latest superhero movie, and we watched the explosions while we fed each other French toast and fresh strawberries. We logged back onto the game in the afternoon, did a raid with Jeremy and Nigel, and fucked around in some of the less populated areas.

We were fighting a big boss when my phone chimed with a new text.I forced myself to keep my attention on the game.

As we wrapped things up, sorted out loot, and left the dungeon, I tried not to fidget.

When we were back in town, Brandon handed me my phone.“You should probably look.”

I pulled up Reese’s reply.Hersurewas hardly classic literature, but it was an answer.

Pick you up at noon, I sent back. There was no reason to go before that, the malls wouldn’t be open. That didn’t stop me from wanting to head to her place right now.

When we pickedReese up on Sunday, I had no idea how to broach the topic with her.I’d run a dozen scenarios in my mind, over and over, and none felt right.I was leaning toward the generic and frequently terrifying-to-be-on-the-receiving-end-ofso Brandon and I talked about you…

“Hey-o.”Reese’s smile was warm but guarded as she slid into the back seat of Brandon’s SUV.

Most people wouldn’t notice the shift, but she might as well have screamedthings aren’t rightat me.

“We talked, and it’s okay if you fuck my boyfriend,” Brandon said.

This was why people spoke in emoji. Why use words when a facepalm summed the situation up just as well?

Reese was silent.I had to twist in my seat to see her pursed lips and raised brows.

“But is it really?”she asked flatly.

No more wondering how to bring up the topic.Wonderful.

“Yes, it really is.”Brandon’s tone softened.

I watched Reese’s face do the same.“If you’re interested,” I said.

One corner of her mouth tugged up.“I am.”She frowned again.“Wait.Is this Brandon’s way of getting out of going to the mall?”

He gave a short laugh.“No, but now I’m wishing I’d thought of that.”

“Now that we have that out of the way, mall time.”Reese announced.

It couldn’t possibly be this easy, but if they were both being agreeable, I wasn’t going to argue. In fact, if they said everything was fine, as far as I was concerned it was.I could go back to being who I wanted with Reese.

When we got to the mall, I offered Reese my arm.“M’lady.”

“Thank you, good sir.”She hooked her hand around my elbow.“I assume your man is prepared to carry our bags?”

I doubted Brandon appreciated the terminology, but the exchange with Reese was easy and comfortable.

As Brandon joined us, his mouth was set in a hard line.“His manis prepared for you to carry your own bags.”A hint of teasing lay underneath.

“Because his man will be too laden with his own packages to help with mine?”Reese’s voice was light as we walked toward the mall.

Brandon grabbed his crotch.“His man is already laden with a rather large package. But otherwise, unlikely.”

I grinned. This was much better than yesterday.A nagging voice in the back of my mind still insistedtoo easy, but some things were. The three of us had grown a lot over the years, and now that we’d talked, life could move on.
