Chapter 7

Wednesday

Bakari arranged formy bags to be brought to his suite so I wouldn’t have to travel back to the other resort when I finished my last meeting at ten. He had to attend two more workshops and would join me later for lunch. The moment I closed the door, I squealed at my fortune. I twirled around, enjoying the open space where I could see the patio area and the inviting, small pool from the front door. I look forward to using the pool while staying with him. I collapsed on the comfortable bed and stared at the ceiling, marveling at my own behavior. I always considered every step before I took it, bordering on obsessiveness.

Yet, I was in the king-sized bed of a man I didn’t know three days ago. So far, I have had no regrets. In the three days I’d spent with Bakari, he had been kind and thoughtful, even gentle in his treatment of me. Well, outside of the rough and wild sex. Sometimes he seemed distracted or deep in thought, and I wondered what or who occupied his mind. Or maybe it was his heart. He claimed he had a girlfriend at home, but I didn’t see him contact her or make excuses to be alone so he could have privacy. He didn’t even check for his cell to communicate with his girlfriend back home. Maybe he spoke with her when I wasn’t around, but we’d spent the last two nights and mornings together, and he never picked up his phone. Maybe they were having issues he used as his excuse for being with another woman.

Despite my initial assessment that he wasn’t the settling down type, I now saw him differently. Bakari came from a strong, intact family and had been taught how to treat a lady. He didn’t appear to have a wandering eye, and at least twice, I saw him politely turn down the attention of a beautiful woman. Bakari had the potential to be a good husband one day, although he told me it wasn’t in the cards for him. That struck me when he first said it and even more after spending more time with him. I would understand if he said he wasn’t ready for marriage at his age, but he said it like he doubted marriage would ever be an option. As if he would never find genuine love. And a man with his looks, smarts, and conversation could have his pick of women. All I know is that there was something he wasn’t telling me. That something maybe would explain the beautiful complexity of Bakari Youngblood.

First things first, I needed to finish my work before I played. My alarm sounded on my cell, signaling me to work on the promotional plan for the launch of the new app for my company. I groaned and reached for my bag. Bakari would be back soon, and I wanted to spend time with him guilt-free.

Almost two hours later, the door opened. I waved at Bakari from where I worked in the private pool, with my tablet on the side as I developed my promotional plan. “Give me another hour or two, and I’m free for the rest of the evening. I’m loving I can soak in the water and do my work.”

Like we were a couple comfortable around each other, he started pulling his shirt out of his pants, giving me a glimpse of his taut abs. “Did you eat?”

I pointed at him. “Look, you can’t be undressing and asking me questions simultaneously. I get too distracted by your body.”

Bakari grinned as he began to unbutton his shirt. “I’m trying to get comfortable like you.”

“By all means, don’t let me stop you.” I shook my head, watching him undress. “Let me finish my plan so we can eat, and there’s an excursion I already booked for us.”

“I’m down.” Without any shame, he stripped down and walked outside, his long, semi-erect dick swinging slightly with his movement. Bakari eased into the water behind me and rested his chin on my shoulder. “Are you really almost finished?”

“Yeah.”

“When is this due?”

“When I get back.” I continued to type, although my focus was getting harder, like his dick against my bottom.

“Am I distracting you?” He kissed my cheek.

“Nope.” I lied.

“Liar.” His hand slipped in the water, and he slid my bathing suit to the side. I could sense his triumphant grin when my breathing hitched at the touch of his finger on my engorged clit.

“I only have two more paragraphs. Please let me finish.”

“I’m not doing anything.” He now inserted his finger inside me, and my lower body moved naturally to the rhythm of his stroking. “Admit I’m distracting you, and I’ll stop.”

“Never.” I giggled. The minute I began to type again, he dipped his head under the water, and his tongue licked my inner folds. I closed my legs around his head, which only encouraged him. “Bakari...mmm...I just have a little more to do.”

He popped out of the water and moved my tablet out of reach, startling me. Turning to face him, I protested loudly, “Hey. I need to finish that.”

“You’re not staying extra days to do work.”

“I can’t forget that I still have a life when I get back.”

Bakari placed his arms on either side of me. “So do I. I have several overdue projects, but I’m here and present.”

Looking into his determined gaze, I asked, “Why me?”

Three lines appeared in the center of his forehead. “What?”

“Still wrapping my head around the fact that I’m staying longer to have this experience with you. Why did you choose me?”

He lowered his gaze to somewhere in between my chest and neck. “You needed me.”

“Needed you? How could I possibly need someone I just met?”
