What would he do to me? Would he drag me to Hell and leave me to perish there? What was Hell even like? Or would he take his time carving me up and banishing my soul to the deepest, darkest pits where I’d live out my worst fears?

I shut my mind off, knowing such thoughts would sway my decision.

I needed to save everyone no matter the cost. My life was not worth more than any of theirs.

I glanced to the side, staring at my four hellhounds as they rocketed my way with a series of snarls and growls.

I wanted to protect them as well.

Losing them would crush me. They were my true family.

“Let’s end this,” I whispered as I accepted his offered hand.

Shrieks and cries rose up all around me, piercing the air and drowning out the protests of my fellow students and teachers as Baal’s creatures seemed to cheer in triumph.

A power surged forth from Baal, whipping up the air around us as the various creatures that littered the Academy grounds vanished into black smoke.

The panic and fear set in, and I gasped as Baal yanked me to my feet. I could feel the heat around me now, the darkness and despair engulfing me.

Everything inside me screamed for me to run, but I stood firm.

This was for my friends, and my hellhounds.

If I had to die to save them all, then so be it. I just hoped it was a quick death.

What awaited me? Where would I go in death? Was I hell-bound because of what I was? That thought terrified me even more than Baal as he stood before me.
