Iran with my four hellhounds barring me on all sides, still stunned by that angel. I’d felt his power and intense energy. He certainly was something powerful, even more than Dezikiel and Jophiel. Hell, I’d not felt that power from any angel that had come to the Academy. Was Diane right in saying he was an archangel?

Maybe I didn’t need to get into Heaven after all. Maybe, by some miracle, we could talk reason with him.

“If he’s an archangel, we should try to tell him about what I can do!” I gasped out as we scrambled down the stairs.

“Sure, why not, between him trying to smite us with his goddamn mind and the other angels here to kill us, I’m sure we can manage that!” Hadley barked out sarcastically.

“I don’t think he’s going to listen to reason,” Diane hissed as we rushed towards the foyer.

“The High Council is corrupt, Lily. He’s likely one of those,” Jack spoke reason, and I inwardly groaned. He was right, it was likely he didn’t care, he just wanted me dead. But surely, if I truly had the power to close the gates of Hell, they’d change their tune.

“Wait!” Hadley pulled up before the foyer, throwing her arm out and magically slamming us all into the wall.

My men gave soft growls at the harsh treatment, but they shut up as the sound of metal on metal reached us.

Swords clashing.

“What’s going on?” Jack asked, his voice barely audible as Hadley glanced around the corner.

“Dezikiel is fighting with two angels. I can’t see Jophiel,” she whispered as she leaned back.

“We should head to the music room then, go out that way,” Creeper suggested.

“Shouldn’t we help him?” I hissed. How could we not help Dezikiel? He needed us, taking on two angels was surely a stretch for him, and if they were strong like that other one—

“Keeping you safe is our priority,” Jack stated as he took hold of my arm, intent to drag me back down the hall if he had to.

“We can’t just—"

My words caught as Miss Sage appeared behind Creeper.

“We need to get you out of here, now,” she hissed as she flicked her head back the way we’d come.

“But Dezikiel—"

“He can take care of himself,” Miss Sage cut me off sharply as she held a dagger at the ready. “You’re the priority, you and the other students. Now let’s move.”

Her tone and authority were not to be questioned, and I followed after her with my hellhounds and the sisters as she darted down the hall to the music room.

She led the way, and I shivered as I heard shouts rising up outside.

Miss Sage cursed as she launched through the doors leading outside, and we followed after her in time to see her hurl herself at an angel that had Xander pinned to the ground.

I froze up as Miss Sage didn’t hesitate to drive the dagger through the angel’s back as he shrieked.

Xander was beyond stunned as the angel exploded into a cloud of white light that rained down on him, but Miss Sage was quick to yank him onto his feet.

“Thanks,” Xander managed to mumble, and she just nodded at him.

“Garage, now,” Miss Sage ordered, and we moved into gear as we made our way around the building.

“How did they break through the wardings?” Xander asked as he hurried with us.

“They have an archangel with them,” Miss Sage confirmed as she wiped her blade on her top. At least she was dressed more appropriately tonight in a pair of tights and black tee.

“What about the others?” Diane whimpered as she glanced over her shoulder.
