CREEPER (MAGNUS)

Michael kept his word and took Lily and our brother’s home, and I could still feel her through our link. Chum was getting her sorted with a hot drink and some sweets to aid her growing headache along with painkillers.

The power she’d released to exorcize the demons had astounded my brothers and I. Being able to send her energy to a set location on earth to do her bidding was beyond what I’d even thought possible. She’d impressed all of us with that move, but it had drained her even more. I knew she’d be fine, I could feel her power already healing her.

I could feel everything with her now, her unease, then her certainty at her own abilities when she realized what she was doing. I’d helped my brothers mark down map after map to help Michael allocate his forces.

I was only helping them because it was what she wanted. Jack was more willing to forgive since he knew Michael and Gabriel had not been involved in the drama of the angels, but I was still on guard. Sure, they may have punished some angels for trying to destroy our very existence for living, but I was not as forgiving. It’d be better to not wind up paired with someone who’d believed Lily was an abomination that needed to be put down. I’d surely put down anyone who thought that.

I growled softly as I stood by Jack while Gabriel inspected the maps to pick our first location to go to.

‘Relax, Gabriel is not a part of them, he only wants to help, to do good,’Jack assured me, and I just narrowed my eyes at him.

Even I knew he was not fully trusting of any angel now, not even Michael, whom Lily had trusted with ease. Hell, she’d even trusted Lucifer. He’d had me on edge from the get go. I’d sensed the power he could wield over us, and he’d deliberately activated our hellfire to get inside our minds and understand the bond we had with Lily. That had irked me more than anything. I hated knowing he could do that, but at least he was back in Hell, far away from us.

“Here, some angel blades, they’ll work on demons, but we want to exorcize them if we can,” Gabriel said firmly as he held out two white and gold knives for us. Not like the stakes that Lily had adored in herSupernaturalshow. These were just blades, but I could sense the angel grace imbued in them.

I didn’t say a word as Gabriel chose a location for us, and he offered us his hands. I exchanged a look with Jack, but he gave me a pointed one, warning me not to be a dick.

I begrudgingly took his hand, and allowed Gabriel’s power to wash over me as he transported us from Heaven.

I couldn’t contain the deep rumble in my chest as we appeared in a hospital ward.

“Keep them hidden for now. They’re here, infecting people,” Gabriel hissed, his warrior attire now replaced with a gray suit, which he slipped his own blade into and inner pocket of.

Jack tucked his into the back of his jeans, and I followed suit as I glanced around the hall.

I could feel the sickness and death here, more extreme than a normal hospital. I shuddered as I thought about the last time I was in one. When Lily had been attacked.

‘Focus.’Jack’s voice in my mind grounded me, and I ceased the growling that had started up.

I could sense the demonic presence here, their power thickening the air.

“I remember dealing with these kinds of demons in the past. They infect people with a sickness that slowly kills them. But it’s excruciatingly painful, and no modern medicine will alleviate it. They’ll feed off the pain and suffering here. They’ll continue to infect everyone until no one is left. It’ll spread until the entire town is wiped out, and then they’ll move onto the next. They’re not quite on par with the Four Horsemen, but when they’re here in numbers, they certainly get close,” Gabriel muttered as he led the way up the hall.

“The Four Horsemen, would they have walked the earth with Armageddon?” Jack asked as we scanned each room, the sense of dread only growing the further we walked.

“Yes. Lucifer has them under lock and key in Hell now due to their power, but if the gates had opened fully when the rips exploded, the locks on their cages would’ve weakened drastically, and Lucifer’s power would not be enough to contain them any longer. They’d take part in destroying the world,” Gabriel shared.

“Would the angels really be able to get everything back under control once mankind had perished?” I asked, disbelieving they truly had the power to rein it back in.

“We have an arsenal of Godly weapons and angel weapons. Some would be like nuclear bombs and would wipe out entire countries, others would just be shock waves to decimate demons only. It wouldn’t be easy, but it could be done. We have tools to renew vegetation and bring the animal kingdom back to life. But the world would never be the same, it would be changed in a way we could not even imagine. I still can’t believe my brothers thought it was the right choice. Who are we to question our father’s will? He created mankind, and he treasured them. Sure, they’re unruly and unpredictable, but that was one of the reasons I believe he loved them. They were always surprising him, and I believe they will continue to do so. Not always in a good way, but there is plenty of good in the race, and I believe that counts for something.” Gabriel’s jaw clenched as he pulled up at the end of a hall.

Jack stiffened, and I felt the darkness crawling over my skin as we all gathered together.

I peeked around the corner to spy the various nurses at the nurse station. We were getting closer, but I couldn’t sense the demons just yet.

“What’s the bet they’ve possessed the staff?” Gabriel muttered.

“If we exorcize them, will the sickness lift on those they’ve already infected?” Jack asked, and I pulled back to avoid being seen.

“Yes.” Gabriel was certain as he glanced around the hall.

I shuddered, the sensation of something foul and wicked rippling over me as I looked over my shoulder. Sure enough, a doctor exited a room, not even casting us a sideways glance. Something told me Gabriel had warded us from detection, but we all looked at the man as he stepped into another room.

He was definitely one of them.
