“It was either that or we all die,” I shot back, and his mouth set in a grim line.
“We need to keep moving either way, there will be more, and we can’t expect you to take out more of them,” Miss Sage said quickly as she lurched forward to the garage.
No one argued, and I let Jack help me along since my legs seemed to be uncooperative. So much for thinking I had control over all my power.
We slipped in through the side entrance to the large garage, and I let out a breath at the sight of Paris and Wayne as they loaded up the various vehicles with weaponry.
“Great, you all made it,” Wayne grunted as he heaved a large container into the trunk of a car while Paris slammed shut another.
“Where are the others?” Paris asked, her expression emotionless as she moved around the vehicles.
“They’re coming, but we don’t have time to waste. Wayne, you’re driving, Hadley, go with him, along with you three,” Miss Sage said firmly as she indicated to the three hellhounds behind me.
“We’re not leaving Lily,” Creeper snarled, and Miss Sage just rolled her eyes.
“We’re heading to the same place, you can’t all fit in the one car. I’ll be driving, Diane will be with us, along with Jack, Xander, and Paris. I want a witch in each car, and I want the twins separated so we can use their abilities if required,” she explained quickly.
“It’s fine, I’ll be fine,” I assured my hellhounds as Jack moved to open the back door of the nearest sedan for me.
“Mr. Baron and the others?” Paris asked.
“They’ll be heading to another safe location. Dezikiel and Jophiel will find us,” Miss Sage said as she gracefully climbed into the driver’s seat and started the engine.
There was no chance to argue or discuss anything further as we all filed into the two vehicles.
Then we were off, the garage doors rolling open as Miss Sage spun the wheels and shot off out front with Wayne driving the car behind.
I stared back at the Academy, wondering if I’d ever come back to the place that had become a home for me.
And I prayed the others got away safely as well.
