Chapter Seven

Kimberley

Nuzzling into his neck,I grin into Charlie’s warm skin. His morning stubble tickles as he rubs against me, causing me to squirm away, laughing. I don’t get very far, his arms reaching out and pulling me back into the warmth of his body. Contentment washes over me, making my skin tingle with awareness and my heart beat just a little faster.

I can’t believe this is my life.

For almost two months now, Charlie and I have been inseparable. Spending every moment we can together. I’ve learned so much about him, told him every secret and desire I’ve ever thought or dreamed. With him, I’ve been an open book. I know down to my soul that I can trust him and that he trusts me.

My laughter turns into a moan when his fingers begin to trail down my stomach. I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve made love over the last months, but I can’t get enough.

“You have a meeting this morning,” I try to remind him.

“I’m the boss. I don’t have to be on time.”

“That’s rude,” I say unconvincingly as I press my ass back into him.

“Mmm, it is. But who can blame me for being late when such a beauty is in my bed.”

“Technically it’s my bed.” All other thoughts are cut off as he thrusts into me from behind. While I’m sure Charlie has a very impressive condo somewhere in the city, we’ve been staying at my place. He’d mentioned something about my space feeling homier. And he liked the fact that my queen bed was better for cuddling. The sweetheart.

I’m no longer crushing on Charlie. Heck, saying I like him a lot doesn’t even come close to the intense emotions I’m feeling. I’ve dive-bombed from extreme-like right into love.

I’ve never been in love before. The boys I dated in the past are nothing like Charlie. They never inspired these crazy emotions that swirl through my head and my body, urging me to touch him, make him laugh and show him the softer side of life.

My thoughts are cut off when his arm reaches around and begins playing with my clit. I’m a goner. My climax hits and I have to turn my face into the pillow to scream out my pleasure. Charlie’s thrusts continue, getting faster until I hear his grunt of completion and feel his release. It dawns on me, not for the first time, that we’ve never used protection.

A strong arm comes around me, pressing me into the wall of muscle I’m snuggled against. My chin tucks lower, a laugh escaping me as my happiness bubbles over.

“Good morning, sunshine,” Charlie whispers into my hair, giving me a quick kiss to the back of my neck.

“Good morning.”

Before I’m able to remind him again that he needs to get up and going, his cell begins to ring from the other room.

“Damn it. I thought I put that thing on silent.”

Shaking my head, I tease him. “You did. And then I put the volume back on.” I smirk. “As much as I don’t want you to leave, you need to go to this meeting. You’ve missed too many because of me.”

“The company is fine. I want to spend more time with you,” he says, running a finger down my arm.

Knowing if I stay in bed naked with him any longer, we’ll both never leave, I jump up and hurry to the bathroom.

“You’re going to that meeting,” I call over my shoulder. A sigh is the only response I get. By the time I get out of the shower and make my way out to the kitchen, Charlie is dressed in one of his jaw-dropping suits and casually drinking a cup of coffee. My eyes widen when I see a box of donuts in front of him.

“How did these get here?” I ask, shoving a chocolate-dipped treat in my mouth.

“I arranged for them to be delivered yesterday. I know how much you love a morning donut.”

I place a crumby kiss on his cheek. “If you keep spoiling me this way, I’ll be the size of a house in no time.”

“And you’d still be the most gorgeous woman in the world.”

I roll my eyes, trying not to show how much I like his answer.

“Are you still going into the salon today?”

I nod, swallowing the last bite of my donut and reaching for his coffee. “Yeah,” I grunt. “I have that wedding party today at noon. Pray for me.”
