“Oh, sunshine. I had more than a crush on you the first time I saw you and found out who you were.”

“Was it lust at first sight?” I continue to joke.

“No.” He pauses, his smile turning into a small, knowing grin. “It was magic. You blew me off my feet with just one look.”

“It was my fabulous hair, wasn’t it.”

“Itwasthe hair. And then it was the whole beautiful package.”

My heart rate picks up at his words. It was magic. That was the perfect way to describe our first encounter. He had unleashed something in me that I had never felt before, hypnotized me with his sharp wit and sharper jaw. I’d fallen under his spell willingly—and him under mine.

“I love you,” I say again, needing to hear the words again. They were getting easier to say.

“Sunshine,” he croaks, “I love you too. So damn much it honestly scares the shit out of me.” His hand moves down to my stomach. “And this is such a blessing. Thank you, Kim. This is just the beginning of our happily ever after.”

I nod, too overwhelmed with emotion to get words out. Charlie shifts to one side, making my body tilt and push into the cushions. “What are you—” My words cut off when I see what’s clutched between two fingers.

A ring.

“Wha-what is that?”

“Kimberley Collins, the moment you called me Charlie and smiled at me I knew there was something different about you. Now that I know you, I know you’re it for me. My everything. I love you.” I let out a shaky breath, my hands covering my mouth so I don’t make a sound. At least, not yet. “Will you do me the great honor of marrying me?”

I’m nodding before he finishes his sentence. “Y-yes! Yes!” I shout through my tears. It takes Charlie two tries to get the ring on my trembling hand, but as soon as the ring is on, I know I’ll never take it off. It’s stunning.

“I love you,” I mumble to him as I place wet kisses all around his face.

“Love you too, sunshine.”

“If you really loved me,” I say playfully into his ear, “you’ll lean back, undo my dress belt.” He groans, thinking things are about to get H-O-T. “And pass me the box of donuts.”

He tickles me, sending me gently backward as I cry out. “You little trickster!”

With that, he picks me up again and carries me into the bedroom to quench a different kind of hunger. The box of donuts eventually joins us in the afterglow.

I stare up at the man of my dreams hours later. My true love. Lying half on his chest, I listen to the beat of his heart. I found the love of my life and it was all because of a good hair night.

A really, really good hair night.

The End
