“I was engaged for four years.”

“That’s a long time. Why didn’t you get married?”

“She didn’t show up. She ran away. She stood me up at the altar.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It hurt but I’m glad now.”

“Did you follow her to the ends of the earth?”

He laughed, “No, I don’t stalk anybody but you.”

“Good.”

“I thought I loved her. I really did. It never felt like this though, so now I’m not really sure if I ever truly loved her.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too, baby.”

“You really never went on a date?”

“No, I really didn’t.”

“That’s unbelievable. Men must have asked constantly.”

“Yeah, but I never wanted them. I never wanted more than sex.”

“Does Chase still contact you?”

“Sometimes.”

“You’re not seeing him though?”

“As if I’d have time. No, I won’t see him again. After what he did, I wouldn’t even have coffee with him. That’s not something I would’ve done before, anyway.”

“You never felt it with him?”

“I’ve never felt it with anyone.”

“But..”

“Ask me anything, Jamie.”

“Why me?”

“Are you crazy? You were over the top sexy, self-confident, wouldn’t take no for an answer, and kept whispering in my damn ear. Plus, you kissed me. Every other man just followed my rules. You didn’t. That was oddly sexy.”

We both laughed.

“Over the top, sexy?”

“Yeah, I tried to stick to my rules, but I couldn’t.”

“Why? Was it the sex?”

“No, it wasn’t. It was the way you kissed me. It was unlike anything I’d ever felt. You kissing me, healed me.”
