Jamie pulls me into his arms, “Stella, it’s okay.”

“I don’t think I can do this, Jamie. I don’t know how.”

“Baby, it’s okay. It’s just dinner. Surely, you’ve had dinner before.”

I laugh nervously, “I’ve had dinner before.”

“No expectations, Stella. Let’s just go eat at the same table.” He kisses me and all of my fears fall away. I don’t know how he does it.

I swear he has magical powers. He calms me, soothes me, excites me.

He grabs my hand, and we walk out together. We get into the elevator and he gives me a questioning look, “Have you never been on a date before?”

I look down, feeling completely embarrassed. I shake my head no.

He lifts my chin so that my eyes meet his, “Don’t feel bad about it. I kind of like it. I get to be your first date.”

I laugh, “It sounds ridiculous at my age. I just don’t date. I never have.”

We walked out of the elevator together.

“You don’t eat with your friends with benefits?”

I smile, “Oh no, they only serve one purpose.”

We walked to the entrance of the Glass House.

“We’re eating here?”

“It’s where we met.”

The hostess takes us to a private dining room normally reserved for parties, I’m sure, because it’s huge.

“A private dining room?”

He smiles and squeezes my hand.

We walk in and I see our table immediately. There are rose petals on the table along with lit candles.

“Romantic much?”

He seems delighted. He pulls a chair out for me and I sit.

The hostess looks at Jamie and says, “Enjoy your meal Mr. Martin.”

I shake my head.

“What?”

“She was eye fucking you.”

A shocked look appears on his face.

“Stella! Are you jealous?”

“Maybe.”

He sat down across from me, “Don’t be. You’re the only woman for me. What are you thinking right now?”
