“Then who is she?”
I wipe my mouth with toilet paper. I asked Shelley, “What’s her name?”
“Kaitlyn Montgomery.”
Jamie goes pale.
I laugh, loudly, “You got your submissive pregnant.”
Shelley’s mouth gapes open. I guess she didn’t know about that. Oops.
“I had sex with her once. I used a condom.”
“Every time?” I asked.
“I said it was once Stella, and it was once.”
“You like to have sex repeatedly in one night. Did you use a condom every time?”
“It was once. She’s not you.”
Shelley said, “I think I’ll go. You two need to talk. I’ll be calling the lawyer back tomorrow. You probably need a lawyer, Jamie. I’d definitely suggest a paternity test,” she leaves us alone.
“Baby, she’s probably lying. I doubt very much that it’s mine if she’s pregnant.”
“You’re supposed to have babies with me.”
“I know. I’m sorry Stella. I do not believe that I’m having a baby with her.”
I can’t fight it anymore, so the sobs escape from me as I slide down the wall with my face in my hands. Jamie sits down next to me and takes me into his arms. I am so angry, but I can’t control myself. I put my head against his chest. He calms me down even when it’s him that has upset me. I put my hand on my new ring.
“Don’t you dare take that off Stella. You are not walking away from me again. I will follow you to the fucking ends of the earth.”
Lifting my head to look at him, I lock eyes with him, “Jamie, It just gets harder. It’s not supposed to be this hard. Is it?”
“Baby, I’ll fix this.”
“Don’t you dare try to force her to have an abortion?”
“Stella.”
“Jamie, I swear if you do, it’s so fucking over.”
“I won’t. I wouldn’t. I promise.”
“You don’t believe she’s pregnant, do you?”
“I don’t.”
“Why?”
“Because she took a birth control shot, I used a condom. God Stella, you don’t need to know everything.”
“Tell me everything, Jamie. I have to know.”
“I didn’t come inside her. I couldn’t do it.”
“What are you talking about? I asked you if she made you come.”
