My legs were hurting, all I could do was run and not look back.

I wasn’t completely sure what I was running from, all I knew was I had woken up surrounded by different pieces of metal that seemed to belong to the broken machine. There had been men talking in a language I had never heard of.

Legs hurting, I had no idea if the men or whoever the people had been at the machine were even chasing me but I couldn’t seem to stop running. Just like I couldn’t get myself to look behind to check if the men had even bothered looking for me.

Clothes that covered my body had been torn apart, it seemed like there were pieces that had burned as well.

Nature around me seemed familiar yet so strange. Grass was more cyan than green. Trees were lush and bigger than the trees that grew in my hometown, while also being more cyan than green. Everything had a cyan hue to it.

Flowers were everywhere. Much bigger than I had seen before. Small flowers, which could have been easily the size of my palm, grew in different twists around the trees all the way up to the branches. Bigger flowers grew relatively close to the ground, looking like short sunflowers. Both flowers had many different colors in it.

It didn’t seem Earth-like at all.

Nature fascinated me as I kept going. I didn’t run anymore, I couldn’t. With no shoes on, my bare feet had blisters all over them. Each step seemed worse than before, I still kept on limping at a fast pace.

My breaths were short, barely getting enough oxygen into my lungs. Heart was beating fast in my chest, feeling like it was going to burst any moment. My body was giving up on me. It felt like I had been on a run for days but at most it had to be three hours.

The sun in the sky was close to sunset.

I was tired and scared. The longer I kept going, the more I hoped it was a bad dream, but as I kept moving it got harder to take it as a dream. I had to accept the reality. Sadly reality was, I no longer was on Earth.

No idea what dangers were out to get me, I knew I had to find a place where to spend the night. It had to be somewhere where I would feel safe. Considering how I didn’t know anything about the alien planet that I was on, it was hard to think of any place where I would be safe.

Spending the night on top of the tree should be safe enough, I thought.

Branches should be strong enough to hold my weight for the night and the leaves would give me good coverage. Issue would come if danger came up from the trees, I wasn’t sure if I could jump down and run with my legs hurting as much as they were. It was the risk I had to be willing to take.

I hoped I had enough strength in myself to climb up one tree.

Night felt too quiet. Only sounds I heard were my steps on the grass and the uneven breaths I made. No animal sounds in the distance, no wind blowing.

My task was to find a tree that seemed easy enough to climb with big enough branches that could hold me without me fearing of falling down. Not sure if it was a lot to ask for, I focused on different trees in the distance. I hoped to use the flowers around the stem for my benefit, hoping they would be strong enough to help me push my way up the tree.

Couple minutes later I stood in front of a tree that from a distance had seemed big enough to give me the coverage I seeked for.

“Let’s do it,” I whispered to myself before I made my attempt to climb up the tree.

Legs and arms around the stem I used the flower vines around the tree to find places to hold onto as I pushed my way up the tree. Every muscle in my body was hurting as I was sweating heavily while getting closer to the tree branch. Muscles I didn’t even know I had were hurting, yet I had done it. I reached the branch.

“Good fucking job,” I breathed out with a smile on my lips as I laid on the branch. First time since waking up I could breathe a little easier.

Morning arrived fast. I hadn’t slept much through the night, scared to hear sounds around me.

Back on Earth I had thought the worst day of my life was the day my mom had called to tell me how she has cancer. Now nothing could beat what had happened to me. I was all alone on a planet I didn’t even know existed, not knowing how I had even gotten to the planet. I was fairly certain the men with the strange language were behind it but I couldn’t be sure.

I was thirsty and hungry, with no knowledge if there was anything edible on the planet that I could eat.

With no time to dwell on my bad fortune, I got up from my spot on the branch. Muscles more painful than the night before I made my way back to the ground.

Breathing out loud once more I started to move. My steps were forced, slower and more painful than the day before. I tried not to focus on the pain my body felt as I kept going deeper into the woods.

I had no idea where I was going but I didn’t want to stay in one spot for too long.

After what felt like forever later I could hear a stream in the distance. It wasn’t loud but I recognized the sound .

No longer caring about the danger, I rushed towards the sound wishing it was water or any kind of liquid that I could drink without getting poisoned. With every step I took, I could hear the stream get louder, it made me move faster.
