She stepped toward the boardwalk and Jamal reached out to stop her. “Not yet.” He nodded toward the security men, whose vehicles still flanked their jeep front and back. The drivers alighted and one walked across the boardwalk and inside the hut to check for possible intruders while the other grabbed her and Jamal’s luggage from out of the jeep.

The security guy who’d entered the hut stepped out a minute later, and nodded deferentially at Jamal. “All clear.”

Jamal turned back to her, and swept out his hand. “After you.”

She managed a smile, but the euphoria of earlier had diminished, all her self-doubts returning with a vengeance. Was she as trapped living with her husband as she’d been living with her father?

At least Jamal makes you happy.

“Your mood’s changed,” he observed as they stepped onto the boardwalk and then inside the hut, their security men bringing their luggage from behind.

She bit her bottom lip. “I just wish things weren’t so complicated.”

“Like having security with us and being overly cautious?”

She nodded. “I’d do anything to have a normal life.”

He exhaled slowly. “And yet you’re a sheikha now married to a sheikh. Normal doesn’t come with the territory.”

She sighed. “No, it really doesn’t.”

Despite her sudden melancholy, it didn’t take long for Jamal to cheer her up. Once his security detail had faded away, possibly to one of the other huts, he pointed out the dark-stained, exposed timber beams, the airy kitchen that was surprisingly modern and spacious, the plush bedroom with its king bed and fresh seashell print cover, and the en suite with its welcome basket of goodies on the double vanity showcasing lotions, soaps, body wash, candles and more.

Then Jamal placed his big hands on her shoulders and turned her around to face him. “I need you,” he stated simply.

A thrill shot through her. She loved how much her husband desired her. Though it might only be for sex it was a start, something she could build on. With a little influence, some divine intervention and a lot of luck, he’d soon want far more from her than sex alone.

For now though, it was enough.

She smiled up at him. It wasmorethan enough.

Chapter Ten

One day seemed to merge into the other until day five of their seven day honeymoon was upon them. It’d taken around three of those days for Yasmine to surrender completely to the happiness that consumed her, managing to push away any and all dark thoughts to focus wholly on her husband.

She wanted to delight him as much as he delighted her. The sex between them was incredible, their bond deepening quickly with each and every time they made love.

When they weren’t exploring one another, they were exploring the sea together hand-in-hand while they snorkeled and swam, colorful fish darting around them and turtles occasionally making an appearance.

Yasmine enjoyed their seclusion so much she’d even taken to swimming naked in their infinity pool, then sunbathing under the sun’s rays until her husband couldn’t take the temptation anymore and he took her right where she lay.

She turned her head from where she was sprawled on her deck lounge, blinking at her husband lying next to her with his eyes shut and seemingly half-asleep. She grinned. He’d restrained himself admirably so far this morning, but as much as she was tempted to change his mind by testing out some of her newfound seduction techniques, her body was a little sore from all their physical intimacy.

Not that she was complaining. She’d wanted him unrestrained and he’d readily obliged. He’d pounded into her from behind, then against a wall, in the shower and over the kitchen counter. There was barely a surface inside and outside the villa they hadn’t inducted into their sexual activities.

She no longer needed a bathroom mirror to be amazed by her glow of inner happiness and fulfilment. She’d never looked so good. Their honeymoon had been good for him, too. He was relaxed and at peace, the weight of his many responsibilities seemingly taken off his shoulders.

She reached out and traced a hand over his corded arm, his sun-kissed, golden skin flecking with goose bumps.

“Keep touching me like that and nothing will hold me back from you.”

“Is that a threat or a promise?” she purred.

His eyelids flicked open, his dark gaze holding hers. “I promised you many children, angel. I won’t stop having sex with you until your belly is rounded with our son or daughter.”

She swallowed hard, her joy evaporating. “So the moment you succeed in getting me pregnant you’ll leave me alone?”

He chuckled. “I could no more do that than a starving dog could leave alone a meaty bone. But I will be more careful. I won’t risk our unborn child.”
