"Mykie knows how to wrap a foot, but so you know for future reference, I'll wrap it before you go," Alexander explained, going over to the drawer Mykie emptied out before. He frowned and muttered under his breath about nurses who 'couldn't even stock a room correctly'.

"I'll be right back with an elastic bandage," Alexander said before he exited the room.

Mykie and Caspar were alone again and Mykie sat on the edge of the bed in front of Caspar's wheelchair. "Would you rather him wrap it or me?" she asked, pulling out a roll of bandage out of her bag.

He opened his mouth when he noticed the bandage before he shut it, shaking his head with almost a fond smile. He held his bare foot out with a nervous smile, his sock and shoe sitting in his lap. "If you know how to do it, by all means, show me."

Mykie set her bag down and slid off the bed. She bent down with the elastic bandage, slowly unraveling it. "Tell me if I hurt you, all right?"

He slowly nodded, but he didn't speak as she gently started to twist the bandage around his foot, careful not to put a lot of pressure on the injury but enough to make sure the bandage would prevent the muscle from moving and causing him unnecessary pain.

Once she had it wrapped, she lowered his foot, watching his face. She was caught up in his brown and hazel eyes yet again, noticing how expressive they were. He had his bottom lip lodged between his teeth as he bit down, watching her just as closely as she watched him.

"It seems like you're in great hands," Alexander stated, making Mykie jump. How long was he standing there, and why didn't he say anything sooner?

"Here are your new best friends for the next week," he said with a grin as he held the two wooden crutches to Caspar.

Caspar nodded, accepting them and using them to stand up from the wheelchair. "Am I all set now?"

"If you know how to use those, yes." Alexander nodded before he looked at Mykie again. "Tell your father I said hello, Mykie."

Mykie stood next to Caspar and grinned. "Will do. I'm sure he'll call you up for drinks before I even get a chance to tell him."

"You're probably right." Alexander chuckled and shook his head fondly. "I need to head to my next patient, so I'll see you another time, Mykie. Hopefully, I'll see you again in a better setting, son."

Alexander slapped Caspar on the back gently, but it would have catapulted him onto his face if Mykie didn't catch him. "Watch out for her. She's a tough one on the outside, but get her alone and she's nothing but a softy."

“Don’t give away my secrets, Doc,” she muttered, but she couldn’t keep the smile off her face.

Caspar gave him an uneasy smile. "I'll keep that in mind, sir."

Alexander left after that, still laughing under his breath.

Mykie awkwardly nodded towards the curtain separating the room from the hallway. "Ready to check out?"

Caspar nodded. Mykie went over to the curtain first, holding it open for him and followed soon after. She pulled out her phone and sent a text to Dexter that they were leaving the hospital now and then threw it back into her bag.

Once they got back into the car and onto heading onto the road, Mykie asked him to type in the address to her GPS.

The car was silent after that, the only sounds being the wind from the windows and the voice of the GPS woman telling her to turn right on a certain street or go straight for a certain number of miles. It was sort of serene in a way, making it feel like a calm leisurely drive instead of one where all her secrets could be revealed.

"I know you said it's dangerous, but how dangerous is it really? What's the worst thing that could happen if I knew?"

Mykie gulped. "You want to know the worst thing? Grab my bag."

Caspar gave her a look but reached behind her seat where she’d placed her bag when they got back in.

"All right," he said once he had it in his lap. "What am I supposed to be looking for?"

"I want you to look inside and tell me the first thing you see."

Caspar nodded, a smile on his face as he played along. She saw out of the corner of her eye the moment he realized she wasn't playing.

"Is it loaded?" he asked quietly, almost too low for her to hear with the windows open.

"Yes."

"Why did you want to show it to me?" he asked, his voice wavering.
