“Ryker took a sharp turn here and then appears to stop based on the jagged line here. Then, the car is turned around and taken to a motel.”

“Okay, so they’re at the motel?” Milo asked, stepping back and crossing his arms. His glasses sat on his nose today, and I smiled at him.

“No, I think that’s what MKG wants us to think. They had to know we’d check the GPS route and wouldn’t be concerned if they ended there. They didn’t take into consideration that the one checking it is a hypervigilant girlfriend who notices the smallest details.”

“Oh, so you’re Ryker’s girlfriend now?” Asa teased, nudging Milo.

“What? Huh? I mean…” My face grew redder the longer I tried to find an answer for them. Waving them off, I focused back on the screen, clicking on a satellite to see actual footage.

“Ah, so she didn’t deny it. I think we have a new brother-husband, Asa,” Milo said, leaning into his counterpart. He’d gotten more comfortable with the guys since we’d proclaimed our love for one another.

“I’m ignoring you.”

I kept clicking on folders, amazed at how much access to top secret things The Order had.

“Whoa, is that satellite legal?”

“I dunno. I didn’t stop to ask. I could use it, so I did. I figured it wouldn't let me if I wasn’t supposed to.” I shrugged my shoulders, entering the coordinates I needed. “Besides, I doubt MKG would allow a satellite to be over their property, so I’m going to have to be fast at accessing this.”

Using the information from the route, the coordinates of where they turned, and the time of day they appeared to be there to filter, I was shocked when an image began to load a few minutes later.

“Wow, I hadn’t expected it to work that quickly. Technology really is amazing.”

“Tone down the love affair with tech. Look, can you zoom in there? It’s hard to see with the trees, but it looks like…”

“Bodies being pulled from the vehicle,” I said, barely a whisper. “Monkey balls.”

My mind began to race with what I needed to do. Hitting print, I gathered as many pictures as I could before they were lost to me. When I tried to follow the truck they were loaded into, the whole screen went blank, and I lost the connection.

My heart was racing, my hands shaking as I tried to focus on how to help them. Steps, steps, steps, I repeated, needing to remember them.

“Fin,” Asa said, handing me a phone. “Call the security office.”

“Right, okay, yes.” I took the phone, typing in the number when I remembered we were supposed to keep this a secret in case of a mole. “Um, wait. Who was Ryker’s guard today?”

Milo typed something into a laptop, pulling up a list of names. “Bishop, Anderson, and Sharpe.”

“Nicole,” I wheezed. “It couldn’t be Nicole, right?” I knew it was a high probability that those three people were either the only people we could trust today or the three we couldn’t. I just had to figure out where they fell on the line.

My head began to swim as dizziness took over. I didn’t know if I could do this. Ryker and Cohen were in danger and depending onmeto rescue them.

“I don’t know what to do,” I admitted, tears threatening to spill. “What if it’s the wrong decision and I get them killed? I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.”

Hands gripped my face, and I stared into Asa’s green eyes. “Fin. You’re the best person for this. I believe in you. Milo believes in you. Ryker and Cohen believe in you so much that they left you in charge. Stop stressing about what could happen and focus on saving them. Don’t let fear rule you. You’re brilliant, Fin. Let your genius out to play. You said you wanted to trust yourself; this is your chance.”

“You make me sound like a superhero.” I smiled, sucking in a breath. “Okay, you’re right.” I was Finley Amelia Reyes, and I was a badass. Time to woman up and remember that.

Taking a few calming breaths, I quit worrying about not making it to them and focused on finding them instead. This was a puzzle I could solve.

“Okay, look into every communication and routine of the three on Ryker today so we can know if they’re clear or our targets.”

“On it,” Milo said, taking over one of the laptops open on the table next to us. I looked to Asa, scanning through my head what we needed to do next.

“Contact Samson and see if there are any guys he trusts in the area. They might be able to get there before we can, and we know they won’t be turned.”

“That’s smart. I’ll make the call.” Asa walked to the front of the room as he dialed his biological father, and I returned to the computer. I needed information about their headquarters. It was safe to say that if they were taken, we’d been right about their location.

My phone buzzed, and I jolted back in alarm at the name until I remembered this was Dex’s MO.
