“Why? Why the fuck did I ever agree to this shit? Tour starts in five fucking weeks.” Raising his eyes to the ceiling, he runs his tongue across his lip piercings. “I expect all of you assholes to come to the last show in the north to check if I’m still alive or to arrange my funeral.”

“My condolences.” Gunner laughs, raising his glass. “A toast.”

Everyone, including myself, holds up a cup.

“To Austin and his dying liver. Lucky you already had years of practice.”

“To his liver,” we all joke, draining the shots.

“Fuck, y’all.” Austin smiles, throwing the drink back before looking miserable.

“We are meeting the guys in thirty, so let’s get going,” Frankie says, standing and scanning the couch for his wallet before Evan hands it to him.

His phone goes off. “Speak of the devil.” Glancing at the screen, he grins and answers the call.

“Hey, man, what’s up? Ahh, no, we didn’t see it.” He hisses, winking at me. “Ahh, you did? Well, that’s amazing, dude.” He holds the phone away from his ear. I can hear the shouting over the conversations floating around the living room.

“Of course we tuned in, you crazy asshole.” Frankie smiles, holding a finger next to his temple, motioning that my older brother is indeed insane. I smirk at him. Can’t argue there.

He nods to Austin. “Yeah, Austin is crying. He remembers,” he says, grinning and gesturing at the man in question.

Downing a beer, Austin groans again before leaning forward and shaking his head with his hands in his hair. Gunner slaps him on his back.

“Allie?” Frankie asks, looking at me. “Sure, she’s coming.” An evil smile is back in place on his face.

I shake my head from side to side, disappearing into the couch cushions.

Evan takes my face in his big hands. “Yes, you’re going, Al.”

“No, no, no.”

“Yes, yes, yes.”

I always like it when Evan gets a little buzzed. It lets his inner playfulness come out.

“We want to see your rendition of ‘Cherry Pie’ again,” he says, waggling his eyebrows.

“Screw you. I only stripped one time and it was for charity.”

Evan roars with laughter.

“Yeah, thanks for not telling me by the way,” Gunner growls, pulling on his jacket. “I had to wash my eyes with bleach after you fuckers dragged me to the strip club. It used to be my happy place; now it’s tainted with nightmares.” He fake shivers.

Austin downs another shot before giving me two thumbs up.

“You’re welcome.” I smile at him, bowing a little.

Gunner tries to slap him but Austin ducks. “That’s my sister you were watching, man,” he yells, running after him.

“So? I’m not blind.” Grinning, Austin dodges another one of Gunner’s chases.

“Channel your scary MC face,” I yell. Gunner flips me off, trying to grab Austin.

Frankie is still on the phone and Evan gives him a push. “Wrap it up.” He twirls his finger in the air before lacing up his army boots.

Frankie adjusts his belt, staring at Evan’s broad back and listening to my brother on the other end of the line. “Yeah, dude, I’m busting your balls. You looked great, by the way. Yeah.” Another pause. “Love you too, man.”

He puts the phone in my face. “He wants to talk to you.”
