A lopsided grin warms his otherwise stoic face. Hunter chuckles, running both his hands through his damp hair. “I’m messing with you. Man, you’re just like Jay when he’s pissed. Couldn’t resist to rattle your cage.”

“You’re a dick,” I state.

“I’m being a dick? You’re the one calling me names, sweetheart.”

“Leave me alone and we’ll get along fine.” I raise my voice. “I’m not here to make friends,” I say and start to walk away from him.

“Friends? Why do you think I wanna be your friend?” he asks, coming after me. I turn around and he raises one brow, eyes dancing with laughter. “A little full of yourself, aren’t you now?”

I roll my eyes. “I’m not.”

He shakes his head. “I thought I was in for a boring couple of weeks. Guess I was wrong,” he declares. A slow, smug smile spreads across his lips as he takes another step closer to me. “I did like the way you kept checking me out last night during dinner when you thought I wasn’t paying attention. Turned me on like you wouldn’t believe, Shorty.”

“You’re so full of it,” I say, “and don’t call me Shorty.”

“Fuck, you do have a little Jay in you. But I’m just messing. Admit it—you like it,” he says, his eyes crinkle at the corner, amusement evident on his face.

“Like what?” What is the guy talking about?

“Me,” he drawls, waggling his eyebrows.

“Go screw yourself.” I raise my voice, letting my arms drop to my sides, this guy is unbelievable.

“As a matter of fact, I did that this morning in the shower.” He lifts up his hand like he’s jerking off. “Twice.”

“You’re disgusting,” I yell, trying not to laugh.

Hunter swallows hard, running his tongue over his lip piercing, and I feel my cheeks heat. Stupid hormones. He places both fingers in front of his mouth.

“Don’t you dare,” I warn him.

Slowly, he pokes his tongue in and out. Oh my God, he really is disgusting, but then I spot the silver metal in the middle of his tongue. Is that a tongue piercing?

His chuckle tells me he’s totally messing with me, and enjoying it. Ass.

With burning cheeks I rasp, “Get away from me.” My mouth twitches while I try to fight the smile playing on my lips.

He snorts. “You still like to look, so don’t judge what you want to taste.” He laughs, giving me a once-over. “But this is a place of business, not your local nap spot.”

I clear my throat. “Work? Don’t make me laugh. You probably party, and ride your damn bike all the time,” I grit out. Shit, why am I even having this conversation with him? Shut up, Sky. Don’t give him more ammo to shoot you down with.

My eyes travel from his face, to his chest, to his flat stomach, and south to his sweats. Don’t stare at his package, I scream in my head. Don’t!

“I also ride my skateboard up and down the road if you wanna hang. You know, babe, if you’re looking for someone to pass the time with, I’m your man. Never had any complaints,” he taunts as he towers over me. It’s like the guy is vibrating with pent-up sexual energy.

“I’m not going to hang out with you,” I counter, my voice a little hoarse.

“You’re doing it right now, Shorty,” he says, grunting as he adjusts the front of his sweats. “For someone who says she isn’t interested, your actions say otherwise.” He bursts out laughing, waggling his eyebrows. “If you want to pass the time, night or day,” he says, matter-of-factly, “I can show you how to ride, or catch a wave.” He waits a couple of seconds before he says, “Or you could ride me.”

Immediately, heat spreads between my thighs.

“I’m joking. Relax,” he says, a roguish smile tugging on his lips.

I open my mouth and close it again. “You are unbelievable, you know.”

“Tell me something I don’t already know,” he adds, a little smug. “Jay told me once you used to surf,” he says like a challenge.

“Haven’t done it in years,” I tell him, remembering how much fun Jay and I used to have on our boards and skateboards, but that was a long time ago. I’m not that person anymore. Or that’s what I try to convince myself.
