“Got a flat,” I reply, opening the truck bed, thanking the Lord I always carry a spare tire and a jack.

She kneels down and looks at the tire, and I can’t tear my eyes away from her face. Damn, the way the rain is hitting her body and her long hair makes her even more beautiful than she already is.

“Do you have a wrench?” she asks, smiling up at me. I’m momentarily speechless.

God, she really is beautiful, why didn’t I see that before?

I shake my head. Jay would kill me if he knew I had these thoughts about his only daughter. I don’t care if she never looks at me the same way, as long as I can be close to her. Growling, I shake my head, what am I doing? I kneel as well, and start cricking the jack before I turn the nuts loose. I push up the sleeves of my shirt, blinking rapidly as the rain runs down my forehead and into my eyes.

She sways a little and grabs the side of the truck for support.

“You okay?” I ask, over the roar of the wind.

“Yeah,” she says, her voice a little hoarse. I push my hair behind my ears, she glances at my tattoos and her eyes widen. The way she licks her lips has my dick twitching in my pants, and I swear.

The wrench slips from my grip and lands on my foot, “Fuck.” She chuckles, and I can’t help but smile at her. I hope she likes my ink. I catch myself grinning like a fool. What the fuck is wrong with me?

She stands, leaning against the side of my truck and closes her eyes. The wind moves through her hair and the rain runs down her face while I push the bolts in my pocket. “Let me get the tire off,” I mumble. Standing, pain shoots right through me. My damn ribs still hurt like a motherfucker.

“Need help?” she asks, laying her hand on my shoulder, and I feel it through my wet shirt. I never thought you could get burned by a touch alone, but my shoulder’s on fire. She quickly pulls her hand back, like I’ve burned her as well.

Sky keeps staring into my eyes. She bites her lip, and I have trouble holding onto the tire. It would be so easy to get involved with her; she would be like any other girl I fucked—a way to pass the time. Or would she be different? And what about Jay, echoes through my mind.

“No, I’ve got it,” I mumble, and she takes a step back while I work on the tire. “Can you hand me the wrench?” I ask, trying to speak over the roar of the wind and rain.

She hands it to me, and our fingers briefly touch, her lips curling into a smile I haven’t seen on her before. I catch myself staring into her brown eyes, hoping the tingling feeling in my body will subside. My heart rate kicks up, and my throat tightens. What the hell is happening to me? Color creeps up her neck, although she’s drenched from head to toe. She breathes in and out through her mouth, and I watch her warm breath mingling with the cold air.

“Sky,” I begin, damn it, why do I suddenly feel shy, like some sixteen-year-old kid who’s got a new crush.

“What?” she asks, still looking at me with those innocent doll eyes, as I stand and tower over her. A gust of wind makes her lose her balance, and she stumbles forward, right into my arms.

I hold her up. “W-w-a-a-tch out,” I stutter. Without thinking, I caress her cheek.

“I’m trying,” she whispers. I think she’s going to push my hand away, but instead she covers it with her own, keeping it against her face. Shaking from the cold, I hold her tight and stare at her pink lips.

What am I doing? “I can’t,” I whisper, more to myself than her, before I do something stupid like pin her against the car with my body and kiss her.

She takes a step away from me, guilt sliding across her face. “I know,” she says before she gets in my truck.

I close the truck bed, and look up at the ominous sky.

“Fuck my life,” I mutter, hoping those brown eyes aren’t going to haunt my dreams tonight.

We don’t talk the whole way back. I park the pickup next to Jay’s in front of the garage, focusing on the rain slamming on the roof of the car.

“Thanks for this,” she says, taking off my hoodie and handing it to me.

Before I can answer, she leans in, and kisses me on the cheek, then bolts out of the car. I’m stunned; the girl’s got balls. I caress my face, somehow still feeling her lips as if they grazed my stubble. I hop out of the truck and she walks into the main house, swaying her hips and ass in those tight jeans that leave absolutely nothing to the imagination.

After a minute, Drew walks into the garage. “Damn, dude, you’re all wet.”

“Turns you on, doesn’t it?” I counter, laughing at my own joke.

Drew shakes his head, smiling. “You’re a crazy motherfucker. One who’s gonna get his ass kicked if you go there,” he says, motioning with his chin to the house.

“Ah, fuck off. Nothing is going on,” I reply, getting the flat tire out of the back. “There was a moment though,” I mumble, rolling it to the corner of the garage.

“A moment?” he asks, leaning against his truck.
