Jasper shrugged. “We don’t know that it is only now. I mean, there have been attempts on her life in the past. Even last time...”

“What happened last time?” I asked, looking between him and Wesley.

“You need to talk to West about that,” Jack replied gently. “He was there until the end. We weren’t.”

I frowned. “What do you mean you weren’t there—oh...” I trailed off as I realised what he’d meant. They’d all died. For me. And they could again.

“Don’t go there,” Wesley warned.

“What?” I asked, not meeting his eyes.

“You’re getting all upset again, about us dying for you. We chose this life, and it’s not as if we don’t come back afterwards, so stop obsessing about it,” Jack ordered.

“Seems like a bit of a bad deal, making a choice thousands of years ago and still having to keep to it all these years later,” I muttered.

“Do you want me to put you over my knee right now?” Jasper asked.

“Yes please,” Jack answered, and we all laughed.

“Where is West?” I asked. After his revelation on the ship, I had thought he’d have been here when I woke up.

“He had to go out and arrange something, and it needed to be done in person, but don’t worry, he’ll be back later.”

I nodded. “Any chance of a shower then? I’m assuming there’s an ensuite in this hotel?”

Jack grinned. “This isn’t a hotel. This is home.”

“What do you mean, home?” I queried.

“It’s ours. Well, yours. West ordered it to be built as soon as he began preparing for you to regain your memories. It’s designed to look like your temple rooms back in Bubastis. At least, as they were when they were built.”

A smile spread across my face as I looked around the beautiful room again. “I thought it felt familiar somehow. West did all this?”

Jack nodded, and my smile softened. I had told West to bring me home, and he had.

“Well then, as for showers, there is one, but we’ve got something better.” Zayn sprang off the bed and down the steps, looking back at the rest of us. “Come on.”

“He’s keen.” I laughed. “But clothes would be nice first.”

Jack reached under the small end table and passed me a roll of fine white linen. They all turned their backs as I got out of bed and unrolled it. It was a soft robe, with blue lotus flowers stitched along the hems. I slipped it over my shoulders and tied it in the front. It was practically see through, but it was better than nothing. Even if I had been naked with all of these men, a little modesty now and then wouldn’t go amiss. I headed down the steps after them, and Zayn took me by the hand, leading me around the corner of the huge suite. I gasped. Tall, sculpted columns decorated with lily petals and rushes surrounded a deep pool set into the floor tiled with white marble. Steam rose from the water.

“Do you like it?” he asked.

“It looks incredible,” I murmured. “But isn’t it a little big? I mean, you could fit...” My words trailed off, and I turned pink. Zayn’s eyes fastened on mine.

“Yes, you could fit several people in there at once, my queen.”

“We thought you would need to feed as well, Tory,” Jack said gently. “And you’ll need all of us for that.”

“I… um... Yes, I suppose I do.” I stared at the water, my mind tumbling over itself. I wasn’t a monster, not really. I wasn’t going to go insane and run out and kill people, and the man in my dreams had told me I needed to give myself over to the bonds I held with these men, to who I was. If the priests of Apophis were moving against us, I’d need all the strength I had to protect them and to protect others. I walked to the top of the steps that led down into the water and untied the robe. With hands that trembled slightly, I pushed the robe off my shoulders and let it pool on the ground, revealing my body to the four men behind me. I took a deep breath, then looked back at them and smiled.

“Well then, who’s up for joining me?”

I descended slowly into the delightful hot water, laughing at the speed in which my priests removed their clothes, dropping them in piles by the pool, before splashing into the water to join me. Nerves fluttered in my stomach, but as my eyes travelled over their naked bodies, heat began to stir that had nothing to do with my burning hunger. I sank down into the water, allowing it to flow up to my neck, enjoying the feel of it against my body. Jack moved behind me and pulled me close to him. I sighed as his arms wrapped around me, and I felt his lips press against my neck. I had missed them so much. I had felt so alone and so confused, and Jabari had got in my head as Jasper had said and twisted everything. Being back in their arms felt like coming home.

I turned in Jack’s embrace and slid my arms around his neck, pulling him into me so I could kiss him. I could feel him growing hard against me, and I wrapped my legs around his waist. When I finally pulled away, I leaned my forehead against his. “I’m so sorry for running off... again.”

Jack laughed. “I’m sure it won’t be the last time. Though next time, I’m sure we can make sure the hunt is a little more fun and with better rewards at the end than bloodshed...” His hand slipped between my legs, and I moaned as he found the slickness between my thighs.
