Point taken. Being placed in the cage-like back seat was not where I wanted to be. “I shouldn’t have accepted my mother’s generous offer to come home.” I ran my hands through the furry blanket. “I made a huge mistake.”

“You made a decision, Tiana. Don’t let it bang around in your head.”

“Well throwing a wild tantrum that resulted in you getting hurt shows I’m not making such great choices.” I was annoyed by my own behavior.

“Nope.” Jesse reached over and tapped my knee with his pointer finger. “We’re not going round and round. You acted out. I responded. It’s done and over with.”

I gave an exasperated sigh. “But I had to make a show of it all first,” I lamented, annoyed by my choices.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, grumbling under his breath before returning his hand to the steering wheel. “Do you need another trip over my knee or would you like a fancy hot cocoa from Mama Latte’s?”

I hugged my bear tighter. “I haven’t been to Mama’s in years.”

He nodded toward the upcoming fork in the road. “Pick one.”

“Not the first option.” His palm connecting against my ass after things built up past the boiling point helped me so much, but I did not need another round.

“Good.” Jesse pulled the car over to the side of the road a few feet from the road sign. We were in the middle of nowhere. “It must be frustrating to have other people making decisions for you, but it is to keep you safe. Try not to let things bother you.”

Tears flooded my eyes, and I blinked them away. I was so tired of crying. “I’m really sorry for all this.” Bubbling sobs fell out of my mouth, and Jesse undid his seatbelt. He wrapped his arms around me and I cried into his chest.

“Let it out, little one. It does you no good if it’s stuck inside.”

“I fell in love with Dane after prom. Then I fell in love with Tanner. I was always testing you and begging for attention. Tatum had no time for me!” I babbled as the tears fell harder. They were never ending. “All he cared about was being a rodeo star with Luke. I was just Tate’s annoying twin sister and everybody treated me like a little kid. Nobody cared when I left!”

“Everyone cared, but you were extremely headstrong and determined to leave Falcon Creek.” He rubbed my back, chasing away the memories. “I don’t think anyone treated you like an annoying little kid. What makes you say that?”

“You washed my mouth out with soap. Tanner put me in the corner. You made me write lines. Tanner spanked me with a wooden spoon,” I babbled as I remembered some of the details. “Then while my ass was throbbing, he made me clean the kitchen floor of your apartment with a toothbrush!”

“Our handling of you had nothing to do with your age, buttercup. You’ve got a Little side. One that’s been wanting to come out and play for a long time.” Jesse produced a travel pack of tissues from the glove box and pressed it into my hand.

“Do you mean my brat?”

“It’s more than just your brat. Speak with Tanner about it. I bet he’d give you the chance to explore the dynamic.”

“Explore stuff and become his Little girl or do you mean something else?” It felt so good to finally say it out loud even though it was still a scary thought. Even though Jesse wasn’t my daddy, he was still a Daddy Dom and he would understand what the heck I was trying to ask him.

“So, you do know more than you’ve let on.” He pulled back. “I think you’d really blossom if you were to embrace that side of you, darling.”

“Is Marissa your Little girl?”

“Yes, but she doesn't necessarily have the same sort of mindset as you. Sometimes her consequences are handled in a similar fashion. I’m sure she’d love to talk about it more with you.”

“Um, I know you said not to worry, but will Marissa be okay with what you just did?” I worried about what she might think. A lot of the men in our friend group had swatted our asses through the years, but Jesse had delivered a full spanking.

“Yes, she will be. I’m the dominant one in my relationship, but I still asked for her consent first. Ris thought I’d already done it in college, and she was shocked to hear that I hadn’t.” He settled into the driver’s seat.

“You probably should have done it back then.” I sighed. “Not that it matters now.”

“There was a lot going on back then, buttercup.” Jesse fastened his seatbelt. “It was still very sweet of you to think about Marissa’s feelings.”

Things were falling into place even under the threat of danger but it felt like some of the emotions I’d processed through earlier came back. “I know you said it’s over with, but can I just keep telling you sorry till my heart feels good again?”

“Itisover with. I’ll do a better job of convincing you of that the next time we talk. In the meantime, we can stop by Auntie Belle’s Playhouse since it’s next door to Mama’s.”

Auntie Belle’s was my absolute favorite toy store! My mouth opened into a perfect ‘o’. I was so excited at the prospect of going to the store, that I overlooked the first part of his statement. Was he already planning on spanking me again? I pushed the thought away. Jesse always kept his promises, and he would explain later.

“Really!?” I was giddy with excitement for the first time in what felt like forever.
