Refusing to allow her to overthink anymore, I leaned down and kissed her. Tiana moaned into my mouth, darting her tongue inside mine. Claiming her mouth possessively, I made-out with her like we were in college again, standing in the parking lot the night before she left for California. Finally, I broke the kiss. “No more overthinking, darling.”
She arched upward, looping her arms around my neck. “I’ve really missed you.”
“I missed you. Now, go to bed.”
“I love you.” She settled back into the sheets. “Thank you for being here for me.”
“I love you, buttercup. If you need anything, come and get me.”
“I will.”
“I’ll see you in the morning.” Tucking her into bed, I pressed a kiss to the crown of her head. “Sweet dreams.”
“Goodnight.”
“Night.” I left her side, shutting off the light, and closing the door behind me.Shit.I hoped my decision of talking about things that were bothering her tomorrow instead of spanking her didn’t bite me in the ass.
Plus, I still had my boy to handle, and I wasn’t entirely sure what he needed tonight.
I took a few deep breaths and let them out before entering our bedroom. Dane was laid out on the bed in a pair of navy lounge pants and no shirt, reading a book. He set it on the nightstand as I shut the door. His eyes followed me as I strode to the bed and sat down.
“I’m sorry for giving you an attitude downstairs, Sir.” Dane crossed his arms over his chest. “You still need a shower, and food and it wasn’t fair to speak to you like that. It’s not your fault that I had a lot thrown at me today.”
“I forgive you, rebel.” I patted my thigh. “Let’s clear your head.”
“My head is just fine.” He cleared his throat. “Sir.”
I scanned his posture, wondering what else he was holding back. “Get over my lap. Now.”
“You’ve had a rough day. I can see it all over your body.” Shaking his head, he refused to comply. “I’ll go to sleep.”
“Did I tell you to go to sleep?”
“No, but sometimes you need a break from all this.” Dane chewed on his bottom lip. “I told Tiana that you’d be tired. Now look at what I’ve done.” He gestured awkwardly across the room. “Throwing a fit for no good reason.”
I held up my pointer finger on my right hand.
“It was a terrible precedent to set. I explained how crazy work can be. Yet, the first two minutes you’re home I’m acting out like I haven’t seen you in weeks.” He blew out a breath. “I’ll do better tomorrow.”
I held up my middle finger.
“I should have followed my own decree. I said I’ll do better, Tanner.”
“I heard the words you said. Last chance, Legend.”
He shot me a look, he hated when I threw his first name at him and I was one of the few people who was even allowed to call him that. I used it when he was dangerously close to a real punishment like the other night. We stared at each other, and I hoped he would comply. After thirty tense seconds I raised my ring finger, but he still didn’t move. Getting to my feet, I crossed to the closet and plucked a thick black leather paddle from our section of implements, toys, and other items that we usually used for fun times.
Returning to his line of sight, I made sure he saw the determination set in my jaw. I picked him up, turned him around and folded him across the edge of the bed.
“I’m overwhelmed,” he said simply. “I thought I had a handle on it.”
“I understand.” Sliding his pants down to his knees and off, I repeated the process with his silky black briefs. He preferred a thuddier type of implement for fun, and the leather paddle in my hand would sting. “Ten on each side. Then you’re going to go to bed naked. From now until I say otherwise, you’ll refer to me as Sir or Daddy.”
“Yes, Sir.” Dane braced himself against the mattress.
I aimed the leather stinger at his right bottom cheek and slapped it several times in a row. Drumming his feet up and down, he let out a string of curses. Targeting his left bottom cheek, I did the same number of smacks, increasing the tempo as I went along.
“I’m sorry, Daddy.” He grabbed the sheets in his fists and his voice came out hoarse.
