Her whispered words can barely be heard over the booming music and crowd, but the look of terror on her face says it all. Whatever the guys are involved in, it's scary as hell and probably illegal.

"I have no idea what that is," Lily murmurs, echoing my thoughts.

"The Cosa Nostra is the Italian Mafia. Don means he's the head of it. The big guy in charge. His dad died, and as the eldest of the Travino family, Renz is now on top. They call themselves The Trichotomy of New York." Nova quickly pulls away and discretely peers around to make sure no one overheard us.

Renz Travino. The name suits him but, the mafia? What the fuck? That never made an appearance on any of my lists. I had considered that they were possibly into some illegal stuff, but the mafia?

Holy effing shit-balls.

“Wait. What does that mean? The Trichotomy?” Lily asks, her nose turned up in confusion. “That’s a weird team name. You’d think they’d go for something a bit sexier. Like, I don’t know,The Dick-tatorsor something.”

I want to laugh, I really do, but, I can’t get past everything else Nova said. This is way deeper than I ever could have imagined. Like some serious daytime drama shit. What is my life...a soap opera?

Nova, taking note of the panic on my face, quickly throws her hands up in defense. "Like I said. They're only rumors, okay? It's probably not even true."

My face distorts at her cavalier statement. Those are some incredibly specific rumors for there not to be any validity to them.

Before I can go down that rabbit hole, though, Nova looks over my shoulder and her eyes widen.

Aww, fuck no.

"Which one is it?" I grumble, my stomach threatening to spill over.

"So, what I said before about them never coming out together?" She grimaces and looks back down at my sister and me. "I take it back."

"All three of them?" I rasp. My voice is a strange squeal now, like it sensed their predatory presence.

"Ohhh, yeah. Definitely. They're headed in this direction, too."

A loud bang draws my attention from Nova to Lily, who just slammed her now-empty second shot glass on the bar. "Fuck it! Back to the original plan. Alcohol, revenge, and debauchery!" Turning to look at Nova, she grins. "More vodka, bar-keep!"

Closing my eyes, I force myself to let go of the nerves, confusing thoughts, and heartache. I force myself to remember the badass bitch who doesn't give a flying fuck-the one who didn't even bat an eyelash when she was cheated on. The badass who writes and sells erotica. The one who owns a successful business. The woman who walked away from her fucked-up family with both middle fingers in the air.

The one who took three men at once, all on their knees for her.

"Fuck it." Grabbing one of the shots Nova just set down, I raise it in the air to toast my sister. "Hello vodka, goodbye dignity.

CHAPTER FOUR

"Let'sjustgobackhome. We don't have to do this," I plead for the umpteenth time in the last thirty minutes.

Renz clenches his jaw but says nothing, not even bothering to look at me.

"No. We made a plan and we have to follow through with it. We have no other choice," Zac says, his voice hard and full of bitter resolve, which only serves to further piss me off. Between the two of them, I thought he'd at least be on my side.

"Actually, we do have a choice. Right now, we can decide not to go in there and wreck the poor girl. We can fuck off back to the tower and pretend to forget about her all over again." Renz, completely ignoring me, reaches out and opens the door to one of our Escalades but I quickly yank it closed. "See? Easy-peasy. No harm—"

"Enough!" Renz barks, finally breaking the silent streak he's been on since we got the call that Violet showed up atTheAlchemist tonight. He gave us a knowing look, called our driver, and stepped into the penthouse elevator without another word. "We agreed three months ago, Eli. We decided it was best to cut her out completely. No contact whatsoever. We also agreed that if she ever showed up looking for us, we'd get rid of her once and for all."

"How? How the hell do we even know she's looking for us?" I argue, irritation rising at an unsafe rate, making me want to punch my best friend right between his pretty eyes. "For all we fuckin' know, she's just here with her sister or friends for a drink and to dance, for shit's sake."

Renz gives me a look that saysyeah right, and even I have to admit it's a far cry. Out of all the clubs in New York City, she chose ours. We know she canceled her membership atSanctumthe week after we ghosted her and came up with this idiotic plan.

Correction. Renz came up with the plan and basically told Zac and I this is how shit would go down should she ever pop back up looking for us or answers.

Personally, I have my theories as to why Renz is forcing this on us, why he's so adamant about making sure my Little Flower stays far away from us. When I tried to educate him on said theories, he gave me a black eye. To him, that meant end of conversation. To me, confirmed my suspicions.

Our dear leader, head of the New York Italian mafia, Don of the Cosa Nostra, went and caught himself a crush. No, more than that. I'm pretty sure Renz damn near fell in love with Violet that night. Sounds crazy, but I know from personal experience it's not. All three of us developed serious fucking feelings for the girl and walking away the next morning wrecked each of us in our own ways. It was the cause of many, many fights over the next few months.
