He left, and I used the opportunity to check out his room. It was beautiful and very spacious. The white walls didn’t have any pictures or paintings, and the room decor was simple. He returned, wearing black sweatpants and a red muscle top that showed off his solid arms. Adrian wasn’t all that muscular, but I could tell he was athletic from his lean build.

“All good?” he asked as he brushed his fingers through his wet hair.

“Much better.” I would never get that hot image out of my head.

“What are you eating?”

“Macaroni and sweet sauce. Morris is just too good,” I said, smiling at Morris, who smiled back.

“I just ordered Chinese food. I have been craving it since this morning.”

“I just lost my appetite because of you.” I frowned, and he laughed.

“You want some Chinese food too? I could bring some for you or place an order to the house.”

“No, I don’t wanna hurt Morris. Maybe another day,” I said, winking at Morris, who laughed.

“Where is Tristan?” Adrian asked.

“He is acting like my sister when she is on her period.”

“What happened?” he asked, laughing.

I told him everything including the mirror incident. He needed to know. Maybe he could come and speak to him.

“Shit!” I heard him mumble.

He looked away and whispered another curse.

“He is doing it again,” he said under his breath, his face tense.

“Doing what again?”

“Nothing. I will call you back.” He cut the call before I could open my mouth to say something.

I stared at my phone screen, feeling frustrated. I finished my food and left. I tiptoed to Tristan’s door on my way to my room and pressed my ear to the hardwood door to listen to what was happening inside. I ran to my room when I heard footsteps approaching the door.

I locked my door and laughed at myself. I undressed and took my bath. I waited for Adrian’s call, but an hour passed without a response. I decided to exercise for a while. I stared at the night sky horizon as I stretched my legs.

My mind drifted to Tristan. I had never been this curious about anyone—well, except Marshmello when no one had known what he looked like. I wanted to know what was going on with Tristan and why Adrian had had that scared look on his face.

He’d said something about doing it again. Was today not the first time? What the hell was going on?

I took a glance at the wall clock; it was almost midnight. Why was I still waiting for his call? My throat felt dry, and I had no water in my room, so I left for the kitchen. I held my phone in my hand, just in case he decided to call.

I was on my way down the stairs when I heard Adrian and Tristan arguing.

I moved back on my tiptoes and stopped at a spot where I wouldn’t be seen. I leaned on the railing to hear what they were fighting about.

“You think this is easy?!” Tristan yelled.

“I know it’s not, but you can’t do this in front of her, damn it! You need to stop.”

“I don’t know what to do, okay? I never wanted this.”

“She is here. Somehow, it’s going to work.”

“It has to work; I want it to work, but I wish there were another way.”
