“Well he’s obviously a royal. Guess we should find your mother and ask her before I let you kiss me, wouldn’t want to end up being kissing cousins or something.”

Rolling my eyes to the ceiling, I shake my head. “My mother died.” I say it without any emotion at all.

“Shit, I’m sorry.” To my utter shock, he actually sounds like he means that.

“What for?” I ask, turning to look into his dark eyes. I’ve never understood why people say they’re sorry when you tell them someone died. “Were you the one who killed her?” I snark trying to make him as uncomfortable as I am right now.

“What?! No!” His eyes are so wide with shock that I let out a laugh before saying, “Then what do you have to be sorry about?” before bursting away in a flash. I lean my back against the opposite wall, hoping the Professor speeds things up a bit, I’m bored out of my mind and need to blow off some steam. Brax and a short blonde girl step up to the podium and the Professor stutters once more before calling out, “Fire, water and psionic.” Brax wanders off before the professor is even finished and stands next to his brother in the fire elemental group with his huge arms crossed.

I groan as Prince Douche once more leans into my personal space. “Looks like I might have some competition this year after all. I wonder if Kalvan is going to own up to the fact that he too has more than one power.” He wraps his arm around my shoulders just as Kal looks over at us. A shudder runs down my spine at the furious look on his face that’s directed entirely at Prince Douche if I’m not mistaken.

“Get your arm off me.” I snarl, shoving him in the chest.

“Don’t play hard to get babe, we’re just getting to know each other.”

“No, we’re not and stop calling me babe. My name is Alissa.”

“WellRedlooks like we have company.” Again he slings his arm over my shoulders, pulling me into his side. “What can we do for you two?”

“Fuck off Prince Dick, we’re only here cause Prof says we have to stand with our elements and technically being duel elements means we have to stand with the other duel elementals.” Kal says.

“Oh so you did spill the beans about being a duel Elemental then Kalvan.” Prince douche laughs. I’m curious how Brax could have a dual Element yet Princess doesn’t considering it usually runs in bloodlines, but I don’t want to draw any more attention to myself, so I keep my mouth shut. I watch Kal and Brax as I slip out from beneath Prince Douche once more, both guys seem intent on watching me which only makes me more nervous.

Kal gives me whiplash at every turn, when it comes to racing he gets so angry and around others he seems so confident, large and in charge, but that night he seemed like a different person entirely; I wouldn’t say shy exactly, but definitely lacking the confidence when one on one with someone. It’s a curiosity that has my attention.

Brax on the other hand seems to be as he looks, dark and brooding with nothing held back. Even the way he speaks is blunt and to the point, when he does actually speak that is. More often than not he just grunts when I say hello to him at the house. Although, I did actually get a ‘morning’ grunted at me this morning so maybe he’s warming up to me.

“Ok everyone, eyes front and centre!” The Prof calls over the rumbling of the other students' voices. I turn to look and bump shoulders with Prince douche at the same time I bump into Kal. Neither of them give me an inch as they crowd me between them. My mind goes to a place I never thought it would as I’m sandwiched between them.Bad Alissa, no fantasizing about the Prince of Douche’s and the dick who thinks he can stop me from having fun.

“Over the next few days, I’m going to come around the room and one by one we’ll look at your levels and abilities to see what you need the most help with. While you’re all waiting I want you to pair up in the following teams of two and practice the abilities you already know.” He waves his hand at the huge board behind him and a list of names appear. I search the board for my own and smile at the fact I’ve been paired with Kal. I really hope this will give me a chance to ask him about the races. I want more than anything to get my ass in the seat and race again.

Although, I’m not entirely sure which Kal I’m going to get today, so maybe being paired with him isn’t such a good thing. I glance over at Brax and Prince Douche just as they turn to face each other, their faces masks of anger at having to work together. I let out a giggle at the sight of two alpha males facing off like this is an actual duel instead of the training exercise it’s supposed to be. I’m glad I’m not paired with either of them right now, with how serious they’re taking this I’d probably screw up and use the wrong power.

As I glance around following the progress of the Prof, I toss random fire magic at Kal to fend off. Kal’s smirk grows bigger and bigger the more he deflects my attacks but I’m only half interested in what I’m doing. I watch a water elemental blast water into the Prof. Both Kal and I laugh as the Prof is sent across the room, his back hitting the wall before he slides down with a thud.

“The prof’s a bit of a joke, don’t you think?” Kal whispers huskily in my ear. For a heartbeat I’m caught in my own imagination as his breath tickles my ear.

“You’d think they would have a more powerful Prof to teach a class like this.” I whisper back, tossing a bunch of sparks over my shoulder to distract him while I flip him over my shoulder using my vamp strength. He grunts as his back hits the floor. I smirk down at him but I celebrate far too early as he grabs my ankle, yanking me right over the top of him. One second I’m lying on his chest the next I’m pinned beneath him, staring right into those gorgeous aqua eyes.

I blink, I swear that’s all I have time to do before Kal is torn from on top of me and flung across the room, crashing bodily into a group of earth elementals. I flip up onto my feet, turning to glare at the two guys who caused the disruption. Prince Douche and Brax both smirk at me before turning back to each other, their smiles falling flat in an instant.

I watch as the two of them go at each other. The amount of power in the room is enough to have me panting but watching these two alpha males throw around power like they are, is making me practically drool. They’re magnificent.

Kal draws my attention back to him as he throws a fireball the size of my head from across the room. I pull it to myself using air without thinking and the entire room goes silent. I swear you could hear a pin dropping with how still it is. “Looks like you’ve been keeping secrets babe.” Prince Douche whispers into my ear before lifting his hands over his head. Every single person in the room with the exception of Kal and Brax look like they’ve lost the ability to think. I’ve never seen so many slack jawed people in one place before, if it wasn’t for the fact that I can feel what Prince Douche is doing, I’d be scared of the display of power. While the Prince does his thing, I search the room for Princess, I was sure he’d be like Brax, but his face is just as slack as the other students’ faces in the room.

It only takes a few seconds but to me it feels like minutes as Prince Douche pulls the memories from everyone in the room erasing the last few minutes from their minds as though it’s nothing. I know from experience that it's draining and as a vampire, he’ll need to feed almost immediately after, but even at my best, I couldn’t come close to that much control over my psionic abilities.

I glance at the clock on the wall and sigh in relief as it finally ticks over to the twelve letting us all know it’s lunch time and class is over. I don’t even thank Prince Douche as I hightail it out of there without looking back. My secret just got exposed and now I know I’m more than a little screwed.

A wise man once told me that we all have a choice over how we live our lives. I really took that saying to heart. It’s one I’ve lived by; I’ve never held back when it comes to life and standing here watching as the girl of my dreams moves amongst others is pushing my limits.

That first glimpse of her long fiery hair was like a siren’s call, I just had to have her but she rejected me far too quickly. I’m determined to make sure the next time I tell her that she’ll be mine, she will bend to my will without complaint.

She’s truly a vision even doing something as mundane as walking through the halls to get to class, her movements are like a song that only I can hear. It’s a melody without words that has spun and weaved its way into everything I do and every thought I have.

I’m a confident person who never has to worry about rejection but this girl has turned my world upside down. She’s forced me to actually put some effort into things. Hell I’ve even taken to wearing more eye-catching clothes and doing my hair like it matters how I look. I want to impress her. I want her to see that I can shine as brightly as she does and that we would be perfectly matched in every way.

Just brushing against her pale flesh as I pass her in the halls is enough to have my cock being crushed behind the zipper of my jeans. I’ve been following her for weeks now, she’s fascinating to watch; always doing the most unusual things, like taking on the big boys in Kart Racing or standing up to guys who are twice her size. I love the way she marches to her own beat.
