"What?" she asked.

Blake had never seen her this irritated before, and he wasn't a fan. He liked the happy, smiling Everly. Well, he loved this one too, but he didn't want her maiming his best friend.

"Um, I don't think Ridge meant to do anything wrong."

She looked at him with wide eyes as if waiting for more.

Blake scratched the back of his head. "That's all I wanted to say." She was scary when she was mad.

"Sorry. I'm still worked up over David's audacity. Now this. It's all a little much tonight. Whatever it is." She waved her hand toward the door where she hoped to confront Ridge on the other side.

Blake wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her in. "I'm sorry. We'll get through this. It's just a little bump in the road."

"I don't like secrets. Or surprise visits."

"Fair enough. Let's see what Ridge has to say and then watch a movie. I'll even watch one of those chick flicks you love."

Everly lifted her head from his chest. “You like them too."

Blake shrugged. "I do. Don't tell my friends."

"You have friends?" she asked with a grin.

"Speaking of friends, do you remember Rob? He's coming to the wedding.”

Everly looked at the ceiling. "What's his last name?"

"Oakley."

"Oh, yeah! I met him a couple of times."

Blake rested his forehead against hers. "I told him we're together now. I know this sounds so ridiculous, but I don't think I'll ever get tired of telling people that I love you and that you love me back."

Everly's nostrils flared, and her brow crinkled in the middle like she was on the verge of tears. "That is the sweetest thing! Blake, how did I ever end up with a man as amazing as you?"

"I'm kind of awesome, right?"

She chuckled and slapped his chest. He caught her as she was turning around and brought her back, slamming into his chest and falling into a kiss that had the room spinning.

When he pulled back, Everly kept her eyes closed. "I didn't catch that last part. Let's try again."

Happy to oblige, Blake kissed her again, tasting her happiness over and over.

When they broke the kiss this time, Everly slowly looked around the garage. "Hmm. I forgot what we were doing."

"Going inside to watch a movie," Blake said.

"Oh and asking Ridge about his super-secret dealings with he-who-should-not-be-named."

"I don't think Ridge is teaming up with a dark wizard."

"No, he's just teaming up with the muggle equivalent. Stop distracting me with Harry Potter references. I'm a woman on a mission." She turned quickly and stormed inside.

"Ridge!" she yelled into the quiet house.

"What?" he answered from the pantry.

"What are you doing?" Everly asked, propping her hands on her hips and looking less than intimidating despite her scowl.
