ChapterEighteen

It’s been three months since our previous encounter and it’s been three months of radio silence from her. Every day, I sent her a text and every day she read said text but not once did she reply. That was a kick to the nuts but seeing her just now, that was a kick to the dick.

Somehow, she’s gotten even sexier in the last three months. Speaking of my dick, it definitely liked what we saw—jeans that should be illegal, a black tank that showcases her gorgeous tits, and if I’m not mistaken, a pink bra.

bra.

I can’t see the color without getting hard because my mind drifts back to that room at The Nirvana Lounge and My Sunshine in her sexy pink get up.

I’m snapped back from watching Calliope and Fern leave when Konrad says, “How badly would Mr. Fischer kill me if I went after Cali? She’s gotten H-O-T, hot.”

“Probably the same as if anyone went after your sister.”

“Riiiight,” he says nodding. “Speaking of the she-devil, how is my little sister?”

“How I’m not gray yet, I will never know.”

“Umm, dude, you looked in a mirror lately? I’m seeing a few silver sprinkles in the beard and hair.”

“Okay, fully gray, better?” Konrad chuckles at my answer. “But your sister is doing well.”

“And you thought Michael was the degenerate of the family,” he teases.

“That’s a bit harsh, even for you, but you and I both know your brother has been through a lot. Someone once pointed that out to me and when I started seeing things from his point of view, everything changed. With effort from both of us, he’s really turned his life around.”

“And who knew Michael had a love of cooking?”

“He just needed to find his passion, not everyone knows what they want to be when they’re nine years old.”

“Touché, Dad, touché. What do you say we go have a beer?”

“I’d say let’s go.”

Half an hour later,Konrad and I enter The Irish Giant and we take a seat at the bar. “Mr. Heatherington. Dr. Heatherington,” Rosie says in greeting, “what can I get ya?”

“Two beers, please,” I order and I notice Konrad grinning. “What’s got you grinning?”

“I still get a kick out of it when people call me Doctor. There were so many times I wanted to quit, when it got so hard I felt like I was drowning, but something pushed me on and I did it. I’m a real doctor now.”

“And I couldn’t be prouder of you, son.”

“Thanks, Dad.”

Over a few beers, Konrad and I catch up and it’s been great. He even asks me about dating but I quickly change the topic, that’s not something I want to discuss with my son. Especially since the only person I actually want to date is forbidden fruit. I may have only had a little taste but I have a new addiction and it’s one I need to conquer. No good can come from Calliope Fischer and I doing anything more than we already have.

Later that afternoon, Michael and Finley arrive and the four of us enjoy a family dinner at the pub, just like old times, and it’s perfect. We laugh. We eat. We’re a family again. Looking at my three kids, I smile, I haven’t felt contentment like this in a long time, but I’m snapped back to the present when I realize all three of my children are staring expectantly at me. “What?” I ask them, unsure as to why all three of them are looking intently at me.

“Daddy,” Finley says in the sweet tone that I have come to know is anything but sweet. “When are you going to start dating again? Mom’s been gone for years now. That bitch ain’t coming back and I, well, we think it’s time you put yourself out there again.”

“My love life, or lack thereof, is none of your concern. I’m happy—”
