It started with Jaxson following the uniformed man to the door and distinctly locking it behind him. The click of the lock got her pulse thumping. The look on Jaxson's face as he turned to watch her and Chase would have knocked her on her ass had she been standing.

She watched silently as he opened the bottle of champagne. The sharp pop of the cork startled her. The room was so quiet; she could make out the sound of the bubbles as Jaxson poured three flutes to the three-quarters mark before reaching for the OJ and filling them to make mimosas. His eyes bored into her as he approached the bed where she and Chase lounged, the drinks in tow. He held a glass out silently to her, nodding for her to reach out and take it.

Emma noticed Chase did Jaxson's silent bidding, sitting up to take his own drink. Jaxson finally spoke, raising his glass in a toast. "To new friends."

Both men drank, but Emma sat frozen, her back against the pillows stacked along the headboard. "You aren't drinking, Emma. Don't you like meeting new friends?" Jax stared as he waited for her answer. She'd never met someone this intense before.

"Is that what we are? Friends?" Where did that question come from?

Jax finally cracked a small smile, "Of course we're friends. Don't think we invite everyone we meet into our private car."

"I'm not complaining, mind you, but why did you do that, exactly?"

Jax's green eyes twinkled with a mischief she hadn't seen there before. "I don't think she trusts us, Chase. What do you think?"

She tore her gaze from Jax to see Chase grinning at her. Her skin felt on fire where his left hand was now caressing her left ankle, moving slowly higher under her jeans to her calf as he lifted his glass with his other hand to his lips to sip the drink before answering. "I think you're right, Jax. What a shame, too. We are very trustworthy kinda guys." The heated look on his face told her they were anything but.

Despite the alarm bells going off in her head, Emma was filled with a foreign desire to live dangerously. Yesterday she'd concluded she needed to start taking more risks. It wasn't every day she had a chance to make friends with two hot models.

"Trustworthy, you say. I'd have to say so far, that might be true considering you saved me from the goons in the station and have helped me recover from their attack. Still... you haven't mentioned what you expect in return for your kindness."

Jaxson answered with an exaggerated tone, which told her he was playing with her. "I resent that. We want to help out a beautiful woman and get accused of wanting something in return."

Emma's self-doubt ran deep. The words spilled out of her mouth without even thinking, "Ha! Now I know you are liars. I'm not beautiful. At least not like those two models you were with yesterday at the hotel. I'm fat and plain and..."

He moved so swiftly she barely had time to understand what was happening. She felt Chase's hand squeezing her ankle as if to hold her still while Jax put his drink down on the bedside table before leaning in close. His hands brushed her body sending an electric shock through her, as she smelled his minty breath as he chastised her. All traces of his smile were gone, replaced by a scowl.

"That will be the last time you call yourself fat... or plain... Do you hear me?"

Her heart pounded in her chest by the serious anger she saw flashing in his eyes. "Why are you so angry? I'm only saying the truth."

Emma truly didn't understand the rules of the game the men seemed to be playing. They sat in silence for a full minute, the atmosphere growing more awkward by the second. By the time Jaxson spoke, she knew whatever came out of his mouth would be the truth. She saw him struggling to find his words.

"You honestly don't see it, do you?"

"See what?"

"How beautiful you are."

She snickered, yet a small part of her obsessed over how awesome it would be to have those words be true. "Listen, you guys are nice, but you don't have to keep lying."

She was on her feet in a flash, pulled there by Jaxson before he led her to the full-length mirror on the sliding closet door. Jax was a full foot taller than her. Their gaze met in the mirror as he held her still in front of him with his hands on her hips.

"Do you want to know what I see, Emma?" He didn't wait for her reply.

His right hand stroked her long, thick brunette hair, weaving his fingers through what she considered her best physical attribute. Surprise arced through her when he yanked it, pulling her head back and exposing her creamy neck to the man who suddenly looked like a predator. "This is extraordinary hair, Emma. It makes me want to run my fingers through it and use it as a handle while I fuck you from behind."

His shocking words branded her, but he wasn't done. His left hand moved to cup her double D breast, drawing a groan from her when he pinched her nipple, helping it to protrude obscenely through her thin top. "Did you see the pathetic breasts the bitch I was with yesterday had? They didn't even fill half my hand. I could spend hours tying up and playing with your tits, baby. Skinny girls don't have what you have."

It was a toss up whether her heart or brain was racing faster at Jaxson’s unexpected statement. Could he be telling the truth that he not only overlooked her less than perfect body, but actually valued it?

Chase had joined them at the mirror and spoke next. "It's your lips I can't stop thinking about. You have the most beautiful, full lips. I would give anything to have you on your knees in front of me, looking up from below while you wrapped those pretty, perfect lips around my cock."

Jaxson had to see the surprise in her reflection because he jumped in again. "You're a natural beauty, Emma. You don't need tons of makeup and designer clothes to hide behind. But, it was your gorgeous eyes that attracted me to you first. They are the most unique shade of violet. In our business, everyone lies. I've learned how to read people through their eyes to try to pick out the bullshit. Your eyes are a mirror into your soul, Emma.”

She braved speaking for the first time, "And what do my eyes say to you?" Her voice quavered. She wasn't sure what she was hoping for.

His mischievous grin was back. "They tell me you want to believe me. I see your intelligence... your honesty... your desire to be the one in the limelight for once instead of the one sitting on the sidelines."
