Emma and Chase's arms were so full they'd had to tip the doorman to accompany them in the elevator to Jaxson's Georgetown loft just to get all of their purchases upstairs.

"Trust me, he won't be mad at all. He wanted me to help pick out some fun new clothes for you for our trip."

"Clothes I get. But you bought shoes, purses, scarves, jewelry... hell even luggage."

"Hey, it's all about the accessories, sweetheart."

Emma caught her reflection in the mirrored elevator door and almost didn't recognize herself. New haircut and highlights... mani... pedi... designer clothes. She was a new woman.

The elevator dinged their arrival at the top floor of the fourteen-story building. Jaxson had purchased the penthouse loft four years earlier and then remodeled it to the top-of-the-line everything.

It was a long walk to the end of the hall. They'd been gone all day and Emma's feet were killing her. She'd worn new high-heeled sandals that proved to be fashionable, yet painful.

Chase stepped in front of her to wrangle with the lock as he reminded her, "Don't forget, Jaxson's father paid for almost half of this stuff anyway."

Oh she hadn't forgotten. The arrival of Bonnie, the senator's personal assistant, had confused her greatly. If Emma weren’t going with Jaxson to the gala event the next night, why would she need a grand ball gown? She'd tried to discuss it with Chase, but he'd gone all Dom on her and told her to be a good girl and just let them take care of her.

They dumped their packages just inside the door on the foyer's Italian marble floor. Chase tipped the doorman for his help and showed him out before the two of them left the entrance, planning on collapsing into the plush leather couches of the open great room.

Chase pulled them to a quick stop just inside the room. They hadn't expected Jaxson home for several hours, yet there he was, his back to them as he stood looking out the two-story wall of windows down onto the Georgetown University campus and surrounding neighborhood below them. He had to have heard them arrive, yet he maintained his perch.

Something was wrong.

She could hear the strain in Chase's voice as he questioned Jax. "This is a surprise. We didn't expect to see you home so early."

It took Jax several long seconds to turn to greet them. His dark eyes looked stormy. The rock glass half-filled with an amber liquid shook in his hand as if he might drop it any second.

Emma rushed forward, not stopping until she hugged him as hard as possible. Her choke-hold managed to free a chuckle from her Dom. "I missed you too, honey. Did you have fun today?"

She could feel his arms closing around her as he hugged her back. His lean muscles were tense under his three-piece suit. She ran her hands up and down his back, trying to massage the stress out of him through the expensive fabric. The feel of Chase closing in behind her, turning her into the middle of their sandwich as he hugged them both helped Jaxson relax further. The threesome held steady, silently enjoying their innocent intimacy.

"What an awesome hello. I needed this." Jaxson's voice sounded calmer already. "Did you two have fun today?"

Chase answered for them. "Did you know Bonnie was coming over to take us shopping for the gala?"

The men each stepped back, ruining their sandwich and leaving her feeling vulnerable and alone. Sensing her loose end, Jaxson pulled her to the nearby seating arrangement and sat, pulling her into his lap before answering.

"Yeah, the old man was kind enough to inform me what he'd done after it was too late."

Chase plopped down across from them answering, "I wish I could have seen his face when you told him to fuck off—that we weren't coming."

Emma had tucked her head into the crook of Jaxson's neck, unable to see his face, but his silence in light of the question hanging in the air spoke volumes.

Chase pressed him. "You did tell him, right?"

"Of course I told him, but... well shit, you know him. He doesn't take no well."

"That's tough shit. I don't care about myself, but we can't put Emma in that position." Chase persisted.

"I agree, but..." Jaxson was hedging.

"No but. Going is not an option."

Emma tucked in closer, not wanting to hear the rising tension between her lovers.

Jaxson countered, "He fired Juan. Fucking deported him and his entire family."

"Holy shit. I'm so sorry."
