Nick

It isn’tuntil I’ve pulled the Toyota over for speeding that I realize this might be Carolyn’s car. My car sits behind hers on the side of the road, my lights blaring. Part of me wishes I could take back my decision to stop her, but the other part of me knows this was meant to be. I get to see my beautiful Carolyn, and this time she’s not getting away without accepting a date with me.

I put on my tough face, but it’s hard. I nearly laugh on my way over to her car. Her head bobs as she reaches for the glove compartment. I can practically hear her cussing as I peer into her open window.

“License and registration, ma’am.” She flicks her head in my direction, and any sign of fear or angst at being pulled over by a cop on a backroad melts away. My heart races against my uniform. Even in low lighting, her eyes sparkle like the sea at twilight. Damn this woman’s got me itching.

“It’s you.”

“Do you know why I pulled you over?” I’m still teasing, but for some reason, I don’t feel like she’s getting the joke.

She runs a hand through her thick hair. “I was speeding. I need to get to the liquor store before it closes.” I cock my brow at her. “That sounded bad.”

“Am I going to have to make you get out of the car?” I tease, but damn I’d love a view of her sexy curves about now. It’s the end of my shift and all I can think about is taking my woman right here and now on this backroad. I grow rock hard up against my zipper.

“I’m not drunk, I swear.”

“Carolyn. I’m teasing you.” I finally say, but she doesn’t look any more relieved. “What’s going on?”

“Sisterly bonding.” She rolls her eyes.

“Need a break?”

“Definitely.” She sighs, and heavy energy expels with her breath. Her shoulders soften, and when she turns to face me her lips are pressed into a soft smile. “Are you going to give me a ticket?”

“That depends.” I say, leaning down so that I’m inches from her face. Her full lips begging to be kissed. I lick my lips unable to get the fantasy of how they must taste out of my mind.

“On what?”

“On whether or not you’ll go to dinner with me.”

“Officer Danvers, I told you—”

“And I told you.” The words die in her throat, her eyes widen. “You can call me Nick, and I’m going to tell you something else. A ticket’s going to set you back about sixty-bucks, but dinner with me? Won't cost you a penny.”

“How charming.” She teases…I think.

“I do my best. Why don’t you step out of the car and we can talk about it?”

“What’s there to talk about?”

“A lot, actually.” She takes her bottom lip between her teeth, challenging me with her silence. I love that about her. This hard to get routine is sexy as hell, but it’s also a little frustrating. Especially when I want her so bad I’m about to burst through my pants. “Likewhyyou’re contemplating a speeding ticket over a date with me.”

I try to leave the slight tone of hurt out of my voice. I think I’ve succeeded, but there’s questionable doubt until Carolyn pops the lock, and I have to move back so she can open her door. “Can you at least turn off the lights? I feel like a convict.”

The thought of Carolyn naked in a pair of my handcuffs while I lick her soft, sexy body up and down until she begs me to stop sends a bolt of pure angst through my body. “Sure thing.”

I rush to turn off the lights, walking funny no doubt because of my rock hard erection. When I get back, Carolyn’s leaning against the car. The night wind picks up a stray strand of her hair and she brushes it out of her face.

“I know I come off as harsh.”

“Not exactly harsh,” I correct her. “Indignant is more like it.” Carolyn leans against her door, her hard facade breaking as she huffs out a little laugh which is music to my ears.

I resist the urge to cup her face in my hands, tell her that her strength is a total turn on. She seems like the kind of woman who’s been through some shit, which is probably why she doesn’t take any.

“It’s really not personal, Nick.” She says, crossing her arms over her ample chest. “I’m just not available.”
