“It’s probably vampire proof. Are you telling me you were holding back before?”

“Yes.”

“Holy crap.”

He hummed his agreement and dropped me onto the mattress. A moment later, my jeans were gone and his mouth was on me, just as he’d shown me in our thoughts.

“Jared!” I screamed.

He growled, licking and sucking. He nipped at my clit, and I shrieked, lightning surging down my limbs then ricocheting back to throb hard at my center.

“Oh yeah. Give me more of that,” he demanded.

“I…I…Oh!” I wailed. He plowed three digits into me, finger-fucking me hard, being as rough as I craved. I quivered, clawing at the blankets and pushing my hips up into him, silently begging for more. Colors flew before my eyes while he commended my body and showed me I was indeed his.

Jared’s snarls twined with my cries as my orgasm overwhelmed me. I went flying while he moved, tearing at his pants then driving into me. My channel registered every wide, veiny bit of that length as he filled me with no mercy. Fucking me hard, he rode me into orgasm after orgasm, tirelessly pistoning while I writhed beneath him and clawed at his undulating form.

He groaned and seemed to grow bigger inside me as he reached his pinnacle. His heat filled me, and I fell over the edge again, calling his name.

Chapter Nine

~ Jared ~

The scent of oil and rubber struck me as oddly familiar while Gar and I sat in the lobby of his garage. I wasn’t sure why, since I’d never spent much time in repair shops and neither had my family members, that I knew of.

“Mostly do oil changes around here,” he said. “But we mainly keep everything in-house around Allstown, so if any car repairs need to be done, I get those jobs. We have in-town carpentry, builders, a tailor, though we do order by catalog a lot.”

“What about tech?” I asked.

“Nobody here. I bet if you wanted to set up a computer sales and repair, everyone would be thrilled.”

“I’ll think about that then.” I was completely qualified for that; I’d built my first PC when I was a kid, gone to school for it, but in recent years, I’d swung more toward the software side of things. “Have you lived here long?”

“My whole life—which is longer than you probably imagine. Some monsters choose to live out among people once they’re mated and established. Some of us prefer a place like Allstown or live like hermits away from everything. I guess that’s not so different from humans, eh?”

“No. Suppose not. There are more places like this?”

“All over the world. As you know, we have magical borders. Only monsters can get in. It’s relatively safe.”

“Unless you’re an unmated chosen,” I grumbled.

“Yeah. About that… I have a place for you two.”

“You do real estate, too?”

“Well, know. I’m the de facto mayor and that puts me in charge of all the available spaces and overseeing various affairs in town.” He stood. “Come on. We can walk over there from here.”

Anxious to see this place, I followed him.

“Anyway, about you two,” Gar started. “You going to complete your bond?”

“I want to. Avery’s…reluctant. She loves me and all, but this chosen thing…”

I couldn’t erase the memory of walking into our apartment and finding her about to leave. In retrospect, knowing what I did now, I don’t know what I would have done. Her parents had hated me before. They would have gone ballistic if I’d raged in after her.

They weren’t too thrilled with me now, either. We’d sent them a message earlier about leaving town for an immediate job opening, and Avery’s phone had blown up. Saying they were unhappy was an understatement, but at least we were away and making a fresh start. Monster or not, it was what the two of us had needed for a long time. To say they interfered with us was an understatement.

“She just isn’t familiar with it. It’s all new. She didn’t know anything about being a chosen before yesterday. So now we’re up against this deadline of her birthday tomorrow, and she’s not sure what to do.”
