Terror flooded me, causing my chest to heave with panic and fear. I tried sucking in deep breaths, but I felt like I couldn’t catch my breath. My vision tunneled on the wolf standing in front of me, my heart raced, and I opened my mouth with the intension of screaming my head off. What came out was a small, terrified squeak.

The wolf in front of me cocked it’s head and blinked at me, like it was shocked. I couldn’t really do much else except for cower in front of it, so another little squeak escaped. My entire body was shaking. I couldn’t take my eyes off of the wolf, but I knew it was Dean who was inside of it. He took a cautious step forward, his large white paw landing next to my foot. Panic seared through me and I scrambled backward a few feet, trying my best to get the hell away from him.

“Well, if this isn’t the prettiest sight I’ve ever seen,” A voice said. I couldn’t look away from the wolf, but he seemed to have no such qualms. The wolf turned toward the voice and moved slightly to put himself in front of me. A whimper escaped as the wolf’s tail brushed my leg.

The sound of obnoxious inhaling cut through the panic in my mind. I turned my head ever so slightly to see Jack leaning against a tree a few feet away from us. I glanced over at Dean’s wolf, not really sure who I was most afraid of at the moment.

“Seriously, Dean. You give me the best presents. If I would have known you were going to show me a way into the castle and present a delicious-smelling human to me, I would have been much nicer to you,” Jack smirked. The wolf let loose a deep growl, obviously pissed off at what Jack was saying. I couldn’t help but agree with the wolf - Jack was being creepy and evil all at the same time.

“Y-you prob…ahem, probably shouldn’t g-go in there,” I stumbled through telling him. Jack looked down at me with a mix of amusement, lust, and indifference. I lowered my gaze, not able to keep looking directly at him. Dean’s wolf snarled, letting his large canines show. It was like Dean could tell how Jack was affecting me.

“Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’m not heading in there right now. I’ve still got a bit of time. I’m sure Mr. Beta-man here has already warned his gate keeper about my knowledge of this entrance. It’s not going to make much of a difference to me in the end, but I need to follow my own timeline. Don’t worry about me, slave-girl,” Jack laughed, winking at me. Dean’s wolf took a few steps forward, snarling and growling in an impressive display of anger.

Jack laughed again, giving a wave and taking a few steps backward. His laugh echoed throughout the trees around us and I shivered. Jack had always freaked me out and this experience solidified my opinion of never wanting to be alone with him. I remained where I was on the ground, not wanting to call attention to myself again.

The wolf standing in front of me huffed in annoyance at Jack’s retreating form. He turned back to where I was standing, tilting his head at me again. I averted my gaze and remained as still as I possibly could. I heard the snap of bones cracking again and sucked in a sharp breath. I glanced up as Dean shifted back into his human form. My eyes trailed down his muscular chest, eyeing the defined pecs and the cut abs that formed his spectacular physique. I couldn’t stop myself from checking out the bulging muscles that made up his shoulders and arms, tracing the veins down his forearms. My pussy clenched, a burning and warm feeling filling my lower abdomen. I let a shaky breath out and let my eyes lower, snagging on the sharp V at his pelvis.

Dean cleared his throat and I threw a hand in front of my eyes in panic. My cheeks heated. Dean laughed, a free and bulsterous sound that made me pause. I opened my hand, peering through my fingers and watching him. He looked so amused, moving over to where he had dropped our packs. I watched the muscles in his back ripple as he moved and pulled clothing out of the packs. My core heated more, causing me to bite my lower lip as I watched him pull on some plain sweats and a dark shirt.

“Amara? You’re staring again,” Dean called over his shoulder. I snapped my fingers closed, blocking him from sight again. I considered arguing with him, but I didn’t really have a foot to stand on because he had caught me blatantly staring at him. I huffed out an annoyed breath.

“Don’t worry. I don’t mind it,” Dean chuckled. I dropped my hand, frowning at him.

“Well, I didn’t expect you to be walking around in the middle of the forest buck naked. It caught me by surprise.”

“Are you sure that’s the only reason you were staring at me?”

I scoffed. “Don’t flatter yourself. Of course, that’s the only reason I’d be staring at you. What else could it be?”

“The scent wafting from you right now tells me otherwise.”

“Scent?”

Dean inhaled deeply, closing his eyes as if he were savoring it. When he opened his eyes again, they were glowing - his wolf was right on the surface. “Yes, your arousal is so strong that I’m sure there are shifters in this forest that can smell you. We need to get walking.”

I blushed, glancing around us as if shifters were going to burst out of the forest and attack me at any time. I slowly stood up and brushed off the dirt and leaves off of my clothes. I swallowed, keeping my eyes swiveling around me in case someone did try to sneak up on me. I made it over to where Dean was standing. He looked like he was trying not to burst out laughing and was simultaneously going to lose his shit at any moment.

“Don’t say another word.”

Dean

Amara growled at me to not say another word and it caused my cock to grow rigid in my pants. I shifted the packs and picnic basket, pretending they were heavy in order to keep attention away from my inappropriate and unwelcome hard-on. Amara took another glance around us, as if she were waiting on someone to jump out.

“You know there’s no one around us, right? I would have scented them by now and my wolf would have forced me to shift again,” I smirked down at her. She raised an eyebrow up at me, looking curious.

“He can do that?”

“Do what?”

“Force you to shift.”

I swallowed, shifting the picnic basket again as Amara’s scent flooded my system for what felt like the millionth time. I took shallow breaths, trying to rid myself of it and keep my wolf from freaking out. He wasn’t happy at Amara’s reaction to him and wanted to face her again. I nodded tightly, turning away from Amara and crossing the border of our lands. “Yes, if he pushes hard enough, he can. He is a bit bull-headed and while I have tight control over him, there are certain instances that he barrels through.”

“Does it hurt?” Amara’s voice was soft and hesitant, almost like she was afraid to hear the answer. I glanced over my shoulder at her, seeing her arms wrapped around her slender waist and her gaze lowered like she didn’t want to meet my eyes. I stopped completely, turning to face her. She stopped and looked up at me, surprised. I gave her a soft, encouraging smile.

“It can hurt when he pushes through while I’m trying to hold him back, but normally, no. It doesn’t hurt to shift when he and I are on the same page.”
