The door didn’t give. I pounded, screaming in frustration, until my throat was sore.

Angry and insatiable, I had no choice but to take care of matters myself. As soon as my fingers touched that sensitive spot between my legs, I let my mind wander. I imagined Luke touching me. I caressed my breasts, picturing his rough hands on my skin. I slid a finger inside, wishing it was his cock.

When I fell asleep that night, my dreams were full of Luke and me, tangled in the sheets.

ChapterTwenty-Five

Luke

Holdingthe door closed while Morgan pounded from the other side nearly broke me. My cock strained against my jeans and I wanted nothing more than to give in. She wanted me, and I wanted her, but this wasn’t right. She made me promise I would keep her safe.

“Open that door right now so I can put that cock in my mouth,” she screamed.

I groaned. This was punishment for what I’d done with her in the woods. I knew I was putting her at great risk when we met with her dad, even after I’d sworn never to do so again. Everything about her was confusing. I wanted her more than I’d ever wanted anyone. But with that bond, maybe I just wanted myself. Maybe I was a sick fuck.

“I’m getting naked,” she called. “Come join me. You know you want to.”

Morgan’s perfect body flashed in my memory. I tensed, pushing the thought away.Think about anything else.I couldn’t do it. I was already going to cause her enough pain. The least I could was follow through on this promise.

She continued to alternate between screaming and shouting filthy things and my willpower was getting thinner. The scent of her was making me insane enough as it was.

“What’s going on?” Zoe whispered. I was so distracted, I hadn’t even notice her approach.

“Shit. She’s in heat?” Zoe had a sympathetic expression on her face.

“I could use some help.” I was sweating and shaking. Everything inside me wanted to break through that door and claim her.

Zoe lifted her hand and I felt an electric charge in the air, then my body relaxed just a little. “What did you do?”

“Sealed her door. Should keep her in and mask the scent,” Zoe said.

“I can let go?” I asked.

She nodded. “Go take a cold shower. Or run in the woods.”

“Thank you.” I was going to need to run to the fucking lake and jump in. I blew out a strained breath, then walked toward the stairs.

“Luke,” Zoe called.

I turned back to her. “You did the right thing.”

I nodded, then headed down the stairs and out of the house. I didn’t even bother to take my clothes off. I shifted, letting them tear and litter the front lawn.

While I ran, I realized that we needed to move fast on the meeting with Morgan’s dad. Not just because of the threats, but because if we waited much longer, I wasn’t going to let her go.

Morgan lookedterrible when she walked into the kitchen. She sat at the table wordlessly and put her head down with a groan. “I am so embarrassed.”

I rose and squeezed a healthy puddle of caramel into the bottom of a mug before topping it with coffee and milk. It wasn’t the same, but I was hoping it would help.

The cup sounded too loud when it hit the table and I winced. For some reason, I was still very on edge. I’d had to take a cold shower when I returned from my run last night and then I’d had to take care of myself. I’d needed another cold shower this morning.

I couldn’t get Morgan out of my head.

“It’s part of being a wolf,” I said.

She looked up at me. Her hair was mussed, and she had dark circles under her eyes. She’d clearly been through hell to fight with herself last night. “You don’t have to deal with this.”
