Alex groaned. “These two are killing me. I can’t wait to get them out.”

“You’re strong, Alex.”

“So are you.” She ran her fingers down my arm. “It’s okay for you to be vulnerable. To tell me anything. If you want to talk about what happened, I’m here for you.”

“I don’t even know where to begin,” I confessed. “What I saw… The things they did. It’s never going to leave me.”

She nodded. “I still haven’t forgotten my childhood. But you’ll learn to move on and deal with the pain. It takes time.”

“Tate Maxwell didn’t have to die,” I muttered. “The Lucaya Group won’t stop until they get Drake’s tech.”

“Isn’t there a way for Drake to use his technology for evil?”

“Yes, but that’s what he’s trying to avoid.”

“To win a game with monsters, you have to become one. It’s not like Drake has many choices. It’s kill or be killed. So Drake’s going to have to get over his hang-up.”

I bobbed my head in agreement. “For right now, Drake needs to grieve Tate’s death. Olivia is mad at him and doesn’t understand everything. She doesn’t even know Drake is a Knight.”

“But Tate did?”

I nodded. “Tate knew everything. He was the closest thing to a brother Drake had.”

“So what now?” Alex moved her hand to my heart as she checked to ensure it was still beating.

My heart always beat for her. She kept me going on my worst days. Hell, she kept all of us going. If it weren’t for Alex, I didn’t know where the four of us would be.

I felt like I was changing.

The time I spent in that cave made me a different person. And I was hoping that she would be okay with who I would become.

“When is Tate’s funeral?” Alex asked.

“I don’t know. Drake is making the arrangements. Tate and Olivia didn’t have any family. Only Drake.”

I climbed on top of her and kissed her pretty pink lips, reaching between us to strip off her panties. “I’m home,” I said because I needed to hear the words aloud. “You have no idea how much I missed you. I wasn’t gone long, but it felt like months in that cave. I love you, Alex. I’m never leaving you again.”

Her chest rose and fell as she stared into my eyes. “Do you mean that?”

I nodded. “I’m done with fieldwork. I want to be home with you and our children.”

“But what are you going to do?”

“I’ll work from my spy shed.”

Her eyes widened, lips parted in surprise. “Seriously?”

“Alpha Command needs someone to do surveillance. I can still help them with missions but from a safer location.”

I pushed into her, breaking through her inner walls, capturing her moans with my lips.

She hooked her legs around my back and whispered, “Marcello.”

I loved how she said my name.

It sounded like a sweet melody as it slipped past her lips.

I slid my hand up her stomach and cupped her breast in my hand, pinching her nipple. Goosebumps spread down her arms, her body so responsive to my touch.
