“Whatever it was, if they are calling Hawk it means that they need tracking done, because only Hawk and Hunter do the tracking, and if Hunter isn’t here, they must be calling him in for that,” Dakota says between bites.

“Anyway, if it’s important, I’m sure we will find out,” Onix says with a shrug, “on another note, next time we go to Gloria’s salon Sam must come with us.” I notice Sam’s cheeks fill with colour at the suggestion and then she shakes her head.

“Um, I don’t think that would be a good idea,” she says.

“Why not?” Dakota asks.

“They wouldn’t want me there,” she says with a shrug.

“Nonsense, Gloria is great she will welcome you the same way she welcomes everybody else.” I wonder what the story is here. Why wouldn’t they welcome her into the salon?

“We will see,” Sam says as she stands. “I have to go and see how Joy is.” It’s clearly an excuse to get away from this conversation, but no one says anything as she leaves.

“Anyone want to tell me what just happened?” I ask with a raised brow as I pop the last bite into my mouth. I notice Dakota looking towards the door where Sam left, and then she looks back at me and leans forward.

“Sam was one of the Blossoms here at the club before the Hades kidnapped her, then when the men rescued her she was broken and traumatized, so the men took pity on her and kept her here to help around the club.” Dakota shrugs, glancing at the door once more. “In town some of the women frown upon her choice in occupation if you know what I mean?” I never for once would have guessed that Sam had been one of the club’s girls as she is so shy, but only she knows what brought her into that life, so who am I to judge?

“Well then, next time we will have to take her in and make sure that no one messes with her,” I say and am awarded with a beaming smile from Dakota and a nod from Onix.

“Well that was nice, but I think I’ll have to miss the rest of Hawk’s pampering,” I tease with a wink at Onix. “I need to phone my parents as I haven’t contacted them since before I came here.” I stand, making sure not to put too much weight on the ball of my feet as I make my way upstairs and to the room. It takes me double the time to get there, but I finally make it to the bed, sighing when I stretch out on the bed.

“Mmm, nice,” I murmur as I stretch out my hand to the bedside table to pick up my phone. I notice that there are a couple of missed calls and a few messages, which I’m guessing is from the stalker, so instead of opening those first and seeing who called, I ignore them and dial my mom’s number.

“Alaska!” it’s so good to hear my mom’s voice.

“Mom,” I greet, “how are you?” I hear her sigh and can imagine her taking a seat to talk to me.

“I’m fine, darling, was just cleaning the oven, which as you might guess isn’t something I mind being interrupted at.

“I’m sure that oven is spotless,” I say knowing that mom is always cleaning something or other, she is extremely proud of her home and always makes sure to maintain it tidy.

“How are you finding the new town? I still don’t understand why you just couldn’t move back here,” she says.

“The town is nice; actually, reminds me a bit of home I think you would like it,” I say.

“Have you managed to rest?” she asks in a concerned tone, when moving here I told her that I was feeling like modelling was starting to overwhelm me and that I needed a break and relax, so now every time we talk she asks me if I have managed to relax. I hate having to lie to her, but it’s better than telling her that I have a stalker and he has just scratched the hell out of my car.

“Yes mom, don’t worry,” I say.

“I’m your mother, of course I’ll worry,” she says.

“How is Dad?”

“He was outside mowing the lawn; I’ll go call him so that you can say hi but first tell me about it there?”

“I have made friends,” I say, and hear her sigh again.

“You? Are you telling me the truth or just trying to calm me?” my mom knows that I have never been one to make friends easily therefore I understand that it’s hard for her to believe.

“It’s true, one is called Dakota and the other one is Onix,” I say thinking about the two women which have fast become friends. “I have also met someone.”

“Oh, now that I want to know,” she quips and I can hear the smile in her voice.

“His name is Dash.”

“Dash? What kind of name is that?” she asks.

“His name, don’t be rude,” I tease.
