“Would you like some meatloaf? It’s from last night,” Onyx asks, taking out a covered dish from the fridge.
“Yes, that would be great.” To be honest, I think at this moment I would eat anything.
“You’re actually lucky to still get some. Usually, there are no leftovers by this time, but because the men went out, they didn’t get a chance to raid the fridge.”
I grin, knowing exactly how much wolf shifters eat. “Do you know where they went?”
Onyx looks pensively at me. “I’m not sure, but the MC is at war with the Hades MC, so they might have done something. Either that or another girl has been found.”
They are at war with another MC. What does that even mean? “What do you mean another girl?” Are the Hades MC taking girls?
“You don’t know?” she asks in surprise as she approaches with a plate in her hand, placing it before me. “There is a serial killer in this area.”
“A serial killer?” I repeat in surprise.
“Yes, and unfortunately he has made his killings personal.” Her eyes are sad as she continues. “He killed my sister, that’s what brought me here, and it’s how I met Hawk.”
Her revelation has me gasping in surprise. How dreadful. I see her beautiful amber coloured eyes cloud with sadness as she remembers the tragedy.
“I’m so sorry, that must have been terrible.” In a situation like this, I have no idea what to say. How does one get over something like this?
“I’m surprised the guys haven’t been able to track him,” I say in surprise, knowing that as shifters, their senses are much more in tune than normal humans.
“The killer always uses bleach to clean the area where he disposes of the body. The bleach kills any chance of them finding the killer. But I have faith that whoever it is will be caught.”
Having lived with shifters my whole life, I know that if they do find who the killer is, they will never give that person a chance to be arrested because they will take matters into their own hands, especially if the killer has killed one of their own.
It seems like I ran away from a turbulent situation only to be drawn into a worse one, but the difference is that I’m with my mate, and I know that he will do everything in his power to protect me.
