MYSTIQUE 9

It has been a week since Onyx and I were kidnapped by the Hades MC. It was a terrifying experience, but since then, Fang and I have grown closer than I ever thought possible. He has hardly left my side and we sit for hours, talking about the years we have been apart, and what we have been doing.

He kisses me with a passion that leaves us both desperate for more, but he is being stubborn and says that he won’t do anything to delay my healing. Well, after today, there will be no more excuses because my bandage has come off and I’m well on my way to a full recovery.

As long as Fang doesn’t throw me about, we will be just fine. “That smile on your face can’t be just because I said you are healing; you want to share?” Siena teases as she washes her hands. I can feel my cheeks heating in embarrassment as I remember what I was thinking of.

Siena starts laughing at the clear evidence of my thoughts. “Never mind, I think I would rather not know,” she teases. Everyone has been so friendly that I feel more at home here than I ever was back with my pack.

There are a couple of members who I’m not sure what to make of them, but most of the men and all the women are great. “It’s just that ever since we have come together, I have been injured, and he refuses to do anything until I’m one hundred percent better.”

“Well, girl, let me tell you… with the way that man has been looking at you, prepare yourself, because he’s going to eat you alive,” Siena teases with a laugh as she opens the door of the little room that they keep here with all the supplies they may need to help if anyone gets injured.

“I wish,” I quip, which has both of us laughing as we walk towards the bar area where the other women are sitting while the men meet.

“How’s Gunner?” I ask, having heard him shouting the other day.

Siena shrugs at my question with a look of concern on her face. “I’m not a specialist when it comes to shifters and what the drugs did have affected his wolf. He is having a hell of a time controlling himself.”

Even though I don’t know Gunner personally, I feel bad for him, knowing that he’s going through this turmoil because of something others have done to him purposefully. Fang confessed to me last night that after he had to leave for just over an hour, they had to tie Gunner down when he went feral on them.

“You’re just in time. Look what just arrived,” Alaska says as we approach the table where the other women are sitting. There in the middle is a Black Forest cake, my favourite.

“Oh, that looks delicious,” I murmur.

“Where did you get it from?” Siena asks as she takes a seat. Alaska points to me, which has me frowning.

“Had your name on it, I thought you ordered it?” Dakota declares with a frown. “Didn’t you?” I shake my head, my heart racing as I know exactly who ordered it.

“It’s Grimm.” I see the women frown; Onyx looks at Dakota and then back at me.

“Why do you say that?” Onyx asks.

“No one here knows that my favourite cake is black forest, why would anyone send it to me?” I ask.

“Haven’t you told Fang?” Dakota asks as she looks at the cake. I shake my head as I raise my hand to my temple, where a headache is starting to form. This means that he has found me, and he is letting me know that he will be coming for me soon.

“Damn, it was looking so edible,” Dakota says with a pout as she looks at the cake longingly.

“Well, I don’t see why we shouldn’t enjoy it, or do you think he would have done something to it?” Onyx asks as she leans forward to smell the cake.

“I don’t think so. The prospect said it was delivered by the bakery,” Alaska says with a shrug.

“Well, then I think…” before Dakota can finish her train of thought, Dash and Hunter walk into the bar area. The meeting must have finished already.

“Well, look at that, looks like we came just in time,” Hunter says as he comes to stand behind Dakota and leans down to kiss her shoulder just above where I see his mating bite. “Were you going to eat that without giving me a piece?” he teases.

“Doesn’t look like it,” she grumbles. “Because it seems like the cake came from Grimm.”

I see Hunter and Dash look at each other just as I hear a growl that comes from somewhere behind me.

“The fuck you just say?” Fang’s low voice comes from right behind me. And then he is stepping around me and I see him grab the plate the cake is on and throw it across the room. I gasp when the cake hits the wall, exploding everywhere.

“Damn, man,” Onyx mutters. “I was really looking forward to eating that.”

Raising my hand, I put it on Fang’s tense bicep. His head turns to face me, and then I see the intense fury in his eyes. “He is warning me that he knows I’m here,” I state.

“He won’t get anywhere near you,” he promises as he raises his hand to my cheek just as Sabre, one of the prospects, rushes inside.
