Maybe not even that high if I’m lucky.

He’s every fantasy Daddy I’ve ever dreamed about.

Or maybe I’m still dreaming.

Whatever. Dream or not, I’m not letting this opportunity pass me by.

That Daddy ismine.

Gripping Luna a little tighter, I shuffle a step closer, not looking away, and raise my hand in the air, shouting with my whole chest, “Two hundred!”

Madam Eve looks in my direction and smiles, “I’ve got two hundred to the little in the teal shirt. Do I hear two-fifty?”

The puppy, enthusiastically bidding only moments ago, drops his mask to the ground and shakes his head. But the middle is not so quick to give up, giving me a snarky smirk and adding to their bid, “Two seventy-five.”

“Well, well,” Madam purrs in the microphone. “Seems you’re not onlymyfavorite Daddy.”

My unnamed Daddy playfully rolls his eyes at her but quickly looks back at me. His stare is severe but encouraging. Almost like he’s prompting me to keep bidding. I can practically hear his voice in my head. One that I’m positive is gravelly and deep, like a rumbling lullaby.

“Come on, baby boy. You can do it.”

Soaking in the imagined support and drawing a bit of courage from Luna, I call out, “Three hundred.”

I turn a smirk at the bidding middle, earning a glare in return. We hold one another’s stares.

“Three twenty-five!”

“Three-fifty!”

“Three seventy-five!”

“Four hundred!”

The middle pales slightly, his gumption slipping away with each rapid-fire bid. He half-heartedly chokes out, “Four twenty-five.”

Sorry, buddy, but this Daddy is all mine. When I call out “four-fifty,” he backs off and drops my stare.

“Final bid of four-fifty to the little in teal. Going once, going twice…sold!” Madam Eve says into the microphone. “Congrats, young man. Please see Aspen at the table to pay out and collect your Daddy for the night.”

Holy shit, I won!

Pulling my stuffie between my fingers, I celebrate, still slightly shocked. “Luna, I won! I get my own Daddy for the night!”

A few snickers sound around me, but I don’t care. I have a Daddy! Well, a Daddy for a few hours. But still.

My Daddy has disappeared from the stage, and a twink-looking man is up there now, preening under the spotlight as a handful of littles fall over one another to place their bids.

“Better go find our Daddy, Luna.” Finding a sudden burst of energy, knowing Daddy is mine for the night, I rush off to find Aspen.

Pushing through the crowd, I find them at a white folding table handing someone a piece of paper. I wait in line, bouncing on my toes while Aspen closes out the winners who beat me over here.

Finally, it’s my turn. I step up to the table, flashing Aspen the widest smile I can manage.

“Hey, Tanner! Did you win a Daddy?”

I nod, my head bouncing like a bobblehead. “I did. Only…”—I suck my bottom lip between my teeth—“I don’t know his name.”

“How? I thought Madam Eve was introducing everyone up there.”
