“I would argue if I didn’t agree.” She sighed. “But I do. You know I can handle this on my own, right?”

This time it was my turn to arch my brows. “Are you sure? I can stay if you need assistance.” I thought about the reasons she might not want my help. The most obvious reason was that I was a male and she was a female.

Does she think I couldn’t restrain myself if I saw her naked form? I had only stopped being angry at her. I was most definitely not ready to view her as a potential bed partner.

“If you are worried about me trying anything inappropriate, I can assure you that will not happen. I am not like human males. I can see a naked female and not want to ravish her.”

Her eyebrows lifted higher, nearly grazing her hairline. “That’s not what…I don’t think. Fuck. Whatever. I smell and I’m unattractive. Got it.”

I frowned. “That is not what I meant.” Roaming my eyes over her frame, I studied the female held snugly in my arms. Until now I had made it a point to never really look at her. Some part of me worried once I did, I wouldn’t be able to look away. Oz was so vastly different from any other female I had ever met.

Her pink hair grazed her chin, cut sharp at an angle as if the strands themselves wanted to warn others away. Large blue eyes were decorated with fine thin blonde lashes. Her natural color? I tried to imagine her with blonde hair, and found I couldn’t. The pink worked or maybe it was the only way I had seen her. I had found it strange at first, but intriguing.

A slim nose and high cheekbones were dusted with tiny spots, a fine array of freckles that my finger almost wanted to trace. Red, soft looking lips were parted slightly as she watched me, waiting.

Her frame was slight, so light in my arms my processors almost don’t register I was holding her. She was like a pixie come to life, one with a core of steel hardened by whatever life she had lived before me. Delicate features concealed the countless demons she had battled. A new appreciation for her bloomed in my chest.

My very own warrior pixie.I smiled.

“I don’t find you unattractive.” My voice dipped into a soft low tone that I was sure I had never used before. “I find you…” I searched my processors for the correct words, “fierce, bold…fascinating.”
