It wasn’t just me fighting this time. I had a female to protect. If my fellow cyborgs thought I had been ruthless before, they had seen nothing yet.
She sat up. “We should start getting ready then.” She went to slide off the side of the bed, but I caught her wrist. “Wait. If something goes wrong…” I couldn’t finish the rest.
Her blue eyes flashed. “It won’t.” She moved back to the center of the bed and swung a leg over my hip, straddling my frame.
This seemed to be her favorite position. Not that I would complain. I loved feeling the weight of her on top of me. “Listen to me, Viper. You and me? We got this. I have your back and you have mine. We don’t have to fight alone anymore.”
I nodded, pure emotion clogging up my circuits. “Together.”
She hopped off me, her feet hitting the floor with a soft thud. “Together starts in the shower, Technology Model, so get your sexy ass moving.”
I laughed, tension easing from my frame. “You think my ass is sexy.”
“I think all of you is sexy and I plan to show you how much after we are back home and celebrating our win.”
I smiled as I followed her to the bathroom, confident that the Global Allegiance wouldn’t know what hit them.
